How does Berra have any influence on the skate community. He lost his dvs shoe years ago, workshop gave him the boot last year, he is not a pro. Just because he runs a website? Dude has no shame, most people would fade away to avoid the embarrassment. But he's still getting sponsors. I dont get it. The higher ups involved in this are  fucking idiots. I guess his god xenu has serious power.

I don't get it: Berra must be super marketable to kids and I'm missing the big picture or he's really good at blackmailing sponsors...

Market research has shown that Berra has both a favorable image and high-name recognition factor with kooks.  Unfortunately, kooks suck a lot of dick and thus usually have more money than the rest of us.  We should expect to see a lot more Berra as companies continue to try to connect with that demographic.

Does Berra actually even skate anymore? Just wondering because I cant remember the last time I saw anything from him.

Ofcourse he skate, you think DC would really put someone on their team and give them a pro show if he didn't skate?

I can't belive you guys are talking about headphone sponsors.

It's not Skullcandy we're pissed at. It's the fact corporate sponsors drop skaters like Lizard and give it to people like Berra who hardly even skates but is more marketable just cause of the Berrics brand he brings. Even if Berra had some sort of control, he should have helped in keeping Lizard if they can keep Theotis. It's not like it will hurt their budget cause that mother fucking company makes tons of money.

Maybe it's just me but I get the feeling Berra pictures himself as some kind of next generation Steve Rocco.  He has this vibe of truly believing he's changing skateboard for the better, with a "love or hate me now, they'll thank me later" attitude.  It's a major bummer.  Dylan's summation of Berra in that Monster Children interview hit the nail on the head.

Ah fuck that was a good read. I'm not the type to be a hater but it's good to see that some legitimate figures in the skate industry feel the same way about Berra, instead of just condoning his nonsense.

The front page of the Berrics used to feature photos sent in by kids, now its DC ads, and now Skullcandy ads.

I don't think you guys get it. Berra gets sponsors because he's one of the top actor/directors right now.

that Berra DVS part made me so sad. Skate More was the first video I watched, and I remember really digging his part.

I also liked how it looked like he filmed his entire part within a 2 block radius

that made me laugh as well, also: guess what, back then it looked like he filmed all his part within a two block radius, but now, for the last two years all he skated was one block indoor.

DC's contract is probably over with.  Who's next after Skullcandy? Mountain Dew?
