it's probably more useful to understand that it's the 'profitable route' rather than whatever the hell you're implying

the feel, the look in his eye, the intended readership of the mags this was placed in...
nike's done some really good ads in the past, conceptual, over the top. but this makes me feel weird.

lifestyle ads to sell apparel is a good way to go, but these playful kitty kat shots are mad ghey.

Remember back in the day when people used to put out a welcome to the team video let alone an ad of skateboarding.

while we're sitting here hating on this Koston, Olson, Malto, Anderson (and probably Brad Staba just because he can) are sitting in a really nice BMW Nike van (tour bus) laughing their asses off about how they all get paid like crazy to do ridiculous shit for Nike. if it was me and my friends i'd be doing the same damn thing.

exactly. Olson and Malto are getting paid hella for skating a different shoe. Malto will still come out with ads and Olson will continue to not put out a part. Nothing has really changed except for their shoes.

they should of thrown some wheels on the floor in the background or something...an extra shoelace?

whatever, i don't really look at magazines too much anymore.  i saw some longboarder stopped at a light with kostons on, and even though i've been meaning to try them, i realized i can continue to live [and skate] in splendid fashion without ever getting them.  i guess if i see them for 50 i'll rethink this.  i'd do the dark green ones  for 65, but that's my last offer.

My feelings exactly, looks like a dope shoe but Koston's really been rubbing me the wrong way lately.

... and this is different from the millions of other skate industry ads that had no riding in them how?

It's just X10 femininity with the dog and on the bed...  even for the bank he's making from it, I think I would require at minimum three stiff Vodka's to be in a photo shoot like this.  If he was sober I can't believe how he can still look himself in the eye and tell himself he's hetero.

lots of skateboarder tough guys in here showing their complete part and parcel compulsory heterosexuality. i feel bad that a person feels like they have to defend this kind of socially constructed position. utterly terrified of femininity.

maybe there is a valid gripe with ads that don't focus on skateboarding, but attacking something because it demonstrates perceived deviant gender or sexual expression is just childish.

I am willing to wager that a lot of the proclaimed heterosexuals that read this forum feel some level of sexual attraction to the picture in the OP.
