I fucking hate admitting it, but you're right.  I am from Silver Spring, MD which is about 45 minutes away (it's a DC suburb) and whenever I'd have out of town friends come through and want to go to Baltimore, I'd tell them to not stray from the harbor.  Go to the aquarium, walk around the inner harbor, catch an O's game and get the fuck out.  It's a weird fucking city- way more violent than most and it's hoods are fucking HOODS.

That being said, that video is awful.  I fucking hate people as a whole.  I can like individuals no problem, but in general we're fucking shitty.

I agree on all counts, the harbor is really nice, but almost everything else is just crack, piss and stabbings. Silver Spring is pretty nice though, except nowadays there are a lot of neonazi skins there, which is annoying to say the least. I'm in Richmond now, but I'm from Springfield, VA, which is just about as close to Bodymore. Whenever anyone suggests going there I just steer them towards DC instead. AND they charge a fucking $3 toll to get to Baltimore directly from 95. No thanks all around.

I left Maryland a long time ago and just visit now.  It's too expensive to live there, but that's not surprising about the skinheads- back when I lived there, there were already more than a few (I remember there being a weird amount in Wheaton, specifically.)  I heard Silver Spring is super nice because it got pretty gentrified down by City Place etc.

Took the light rail through Baltimore once and missed my stop. Didn't think it was a big deal. O's stadium looked like it was in a pretty shady area actually. Got off at Linthicum and some dude tried to pick-pocket me, then got pissed and tried swing at me when I caught him. When he realized I had a friend with me, he backed off, stood about 30 feet away calling his friends on his cell phone to meet him for backup. We caught the next car before they showed up, but holy shit, that was an awkward 15-20 minute wait. Took the rail back into the city and never strayed from the path again.

On a positive note, Hunt Valley, just outside of Baltimore, smells like Cinnamon all day, everyday. It's awesome.
