I'm going on a ten day trip to Costa Rica this summer, and I'm thinking its about time to get some new luggage. I travel fairly light, and never check in my bags, always carry on. right now i'm debating whether i should get this http://www.polerstuff.com/the-rucksack/
or this http://www.polerstuff.com/the-duffaluffagus/

I'm thinking the backpack would be more useful to me after the trip, but may be a little too small to fit ten days into? And i'm thinking the duffle might even be a bit to big for my purposes, and i feel like i probably wouldn't use it after this trip.

I think polar is cool but you might be better off with shit from an outdoorsy company. They say a lot of their stuff can't handle huge loads and stuff. It may suit you fine, but you could probably also go to REI or something and pick up something a lot more durable and water proof for the same price.

Again, I've never had any of their stuff. Just speculating based on my experience with companies from other industries making goods out of their expertise.

I know North Face is expensive but maybe start looking at things like that to find something at a similar price.

I have the rucksack and let me tell you: it gets wet when it rains just like any other canvas bag.  It's a nice bag, but like he said, I would definitely go for a more waterproof one if I have the money.  it's a good bag for both school and light camping.  Whatever you think will fit better to your needs

I'd head to an REI or similar.  That way you can check out lots of options/sizes from different companies.  They also have a super liberal return policy.

I don't know much about bags but I really like the duffaluffagus one, totally depends on the purpose of your trip though I guess.

you should get a drybag like so if you can afford one: http://www.rei.com/product/784169/sealline-black-canyon-boundary-dry-pack-115-liters.  You can probably find one for cheaper too.  I have one thats coming up on 15 years old and it is still in perfect condition.  Pretty much bomb proof and you can fit a lot of stuff in there if you need to

Well i ended up going with the duffle bag, and bought a North Face Flyweight pack for day trips. It folds into itself so that way it won't take up too much space in the duffle during flight. It's funny that you all suggest i go to REI, i work as a supervisor at an Any Mountain, one of REI's competitors. I was about to get my pack for 40%  off cost. that's a $50 dollar pack for $15.
