Someone should really interview some of those IIRC regulars and the people that treally made #sk8videos happen. and torrenters. And the osdiasdovideo dude. Those guys have more to do with the video content shift over the last 10 years than mags like thrasher or transworld or any skate company for that matter.

I remember i tried to ask /thomas (i think that was his name, he was the head guy for a few years towards the end) some questions, he didnt really give any good answers haha but what they did there was remarkable, it was so organized and quality controlled and you could always count on them to have the latest shit
and we are talking about the pre-broadband internet, it was a big deal back then

Yeah it was great
It was awesome to get videos in Europe about a month before the official release or premiers.
I ripped alot of vhs videos back in the day for the channel, spent alot of my youth there, besides skateboarding.

Pre messageboard times, good community, quality control, burn to cd and give it to friends.

Fuck a few days ago i even found a CD with some Channel video some french guy did.

I think the real shift began with DVDs in the mid 00 and later blogs and services like megaupload and youtube.

I used to always go on that IRC channel and never knew what the fuck to do. Then i remember clicking random shit and a list of videos came up. That thing died around 5 years ago.

I've got around 1TB of rips from about 10 years I've been downloading them. dreaming of setting up a good ol' FTP one day. too bad some CD/DVD with rips got permanently borrowed by who knows who

I would say that 2-3 years ago
I remember I downloaded the mindfield extras on IRC
after that they went downhill, just a handful of servers
