i don't skate a lot of switch but i always found it fun. it's like reliving the feeling of your first kickflip, or your first ollie down a 3 stair. it's understandable why some people don't like it though, i used to think it was stupid too.

I honestly dont care if someone doesnt skate switch,
but i do kinda expect them to skate faster as a result
. and if im watching it i like it to look switch or else i get confused.
That's how I was in my group of friends. I haven't skated switch/nollie since I rolled my ankle really bad (it also fucked up the way I flicked a lot of tricks). Going faster kept things fun since I was limited in other ways.
But this

I skate switch for the simple fact that I like to wear down both my shoes, not just have one thrashed and one brand ass new.
It just kills me to keep wasting all those perfectly good right shoes.
so annoying

Man, such great replies! The shoe thing is dead on and the relearning aspect has always been a strong argument. However, I'm still not convinced, or concerned. I have a buddy that loves to throw down switch tricks, but he rolls like a snail. I, on the other hand, want to go hard, fast and strong, yo! Well, at least I try to and am doing so in my own drunken mind. I can definitely respect all those dudes that can rock switch on the hardest shit, but I feel like they could be using their talents in a much more constructive way. Man...I'm ripped!

What the fuck is the controversy about? Switch is just something else to do. Do you not skate fakie either? Switch doubles the amount of tricks you can learn. Skateboarding is all gimmicky bullshit in a way, if you think doing something switch down a gap is pointless, why isn't a kickflip pointless? You don't need to flip the board, you could have just as well cleared it with an ollie. But why the fuck not, right?
Also, switch hill bombs are fucking rad. speed wobbles going switch is insane, and almost always ends in a really awkward twirling slam for me.

When I'm skating switch, I feel like I'm tapping into some part of the 90% of our brain power that we don't really use regularly.
Indeed, when I was younger and would get seriously pissed learning switch flips and heels. Once you get em down though and over that hump, the rest comes way quicker. skating switch is fun as fuck and feels so crazy and awesome to land something sick switch. popping a nice switch ollie or switch flip down a gap is one of the sickest feeling tricks to me. I feel a good video part should not be all switch, even if you happen to be super good at it. I wouldn't say it's lame, but i'm definitely not trying to watch an entire switch mongo slow ledge video part. skating rails switch is gnar as fuck though.

skating switch is like learning to
write
wank with your opposite hand,
uncomfortable and difficult at first but with time, in the end it always feels good

I just don't get why you guys would want to limit your skateboarding.

There is more Bieber coverage on Slap than one would expect from a bunch of manboys arguing the minutiae of rollerboard stunts. Actually now that I type that it kinda makes sense.

I'm not trying to limit my skating in any sense, but then again my skating is rather limited. I'm a little bit older and set in my ways, so my trick progression has slowed immensely . As I said before, I want to skate fast and hard, but skating switch won't allow me to do so. Unless, of course, I want to fuck my body up even more than it already is. It's kind of like comparing some kid popping a switch grind on the last 3 inches of a ledge and then some dude hauling ass regular and grinding the whole fucking thing. Then again, if I had put more time and effort into my switch skating years ago I might be able to haul ass and grind the whole thing switch. Fuck, skating is so rad!

skateboarding switch is fun. also to the people who push mongo while on switch, how can you do that? i always tried, but it seems immensely harder than pushing normally. not that i want to push mongo while switch, but like people have said, there is something in aesthetic of skateboarding differently when on switch.

does anybody else not care about switch stance? When I'm watching a skate video I'm not really focused on the stance, but rather the flow of the skater. I'm sitting here watching Cairo Foster in "The Reason" and that shit is wicked! Built To Spill is pretty cool too.
Better switch stance = better flow, that's how it seems to me.
