If you're design firm was asked to be in a commercial for a smartphone, why would you not use imagery from your homies' skateboard company.
You guys are ridiculous.

this. all these lil commoners keep forgetting that skate companies are BUSINESSES and this is a good business move. 5boro gets paid to be ina commercial while getting free promo on national TV. only a fool would turn that down.

money isn't everything.

Money has a lot to do with everything.  I don't make enough to support myself yet (still using up my parent's money for the room, books, and food), but it's not that hard to understand that at a certain point in your life, you gotta start thinking more about money.  People have families to support, and family comes first.  Not very many people actually have the opportunity to "sell out" and there are even less people who would turn down money so they won't "sell out."

All I can say is, it's easy to tell others what they should and shouldn't do, but it's a lot harder to actually try and live by your own words.

If money is so tight you can't get by without doing the commercial, you probably shouldn't be trying to support a family.

All we're saying is there comes a point where you have to draw the line at what you're willing to compromise for some cash in your pocket. Yes, you pretty much need money to survive in our society. However, we want money for so much more than physiological needs. It's good to stop every once in a while, take a look around you, and ask yourself what you REALLY need to live a good life.

I'm sure everyone's heard this before, but it's just food for thought.

But what's wrong with the commercial?  That's what I want to know.  I mean, if I didn't skate I probably wouldn't focus my attention on the skateboards to be honest.  It's a commercial about the phone and what you can do with it.  I didn't really see it as an ad for 5boro.  Maybe if 5boro started having Samsung plastered all over their product, I'd side with you, but to me this seems pretty normal.

And about that family bit...what would you do in his shoes?  Just quit supporting your family?  I don't really get what you're trying to say there.  He's got something good going that will give his family nice things, so what motivation does he have to not agree to have 5boro boards show up on a commercial?  For the approval of people that never tried to make a living off the skate industry?  I sure has hell don't know much about it, so I don't think I'm really in a position to speak for other people.
