We didn't buy any of the marketing , fuck I never even look at skate mags anymore. We just tried the wheels and immediately knew that all other wheels were shit.

Buy a pair of STFs and TRY to flatspot them. You won't be able to.

of course they're going to try to market the wheels but their quality truly does speak for itself.

ha ha i remember seeing that in some kayo video promo. i've never ridden gold wheels. they have always had a sick team. on all the "bones" kool-aid talk people are backing em based on how they ride. i personally don't like how they feel but they really don't flat spot. on the other hand i have never flat spotted the spitfire f1s.

No one has said Pig yet?
STF's are usually my first choice these days, with streetburners coming in second, but if those aren't around then I immediately go to Pig for my next choice. They make a great, durable wheel. I usually get the 101A pig head wheels and they're awesome. Never skated any of the 99A ones so im not sure how well those ones would hold up, but the 101A's are the shit.

I think the 'A' scale only truly goes to 100, but they make a wheel harder than that, so they label it 101A

what bones does, and a lot of other companies, is use the 'B' scale, which I guess allows for better precision.

Bones STF are rated at 83B (correct me if I'm wrong), which is pretty much equivalent to 101A, but it's actually a technically correct rating

I think.

this thread actually convinced me to give bones a try.
last wheels I tried out before that were sml molinar's (53 mm) and they sucked ass. the outer core cracked, had crazy flatspots within 2 weeks of pretty much cruising. it's a shame since sml seems like a sick company with an amazing team. bought a pack of STF's today and I'm already blown away. great for sliding, nice hardness, slim width. (though i did sand off that heinous graphic right away)

So far, out of all the wheels I have ridden, I find STFs have the most flat spot resistance and feel best for sliding in general. But they flatspot just like any other wheels, I have burned through enough sets to think twice about the economic repercussions of powersliding down steep shit. That being said, I love Bones and will continue to support them, but they are not magic. Just really good wheels.

does anyone else get sketched out about skating wheels with no "ridges" (or whatever), like STF's, on transition/skatelite? is there a difference?

That's crazy. I'm on my second pair of sml.s right now and they're still really good after having them for a while.

Pig naturals are actually really good, and any wheel flatspots if you do excessive slides
