That was probably one of the realest interviews I ever read.  Totally brutal, honest, introspective, and even kinda emotional.  It's just almost too real.  Lots of life lessons too.   Glad to hear that things are picking up, and he's staying in the swing of things.

That Peter Pan thing is true anywhere in the world. Its basiclly what skating is, you get so wrapped up in it you cant and dont want to see anything else other then booze and women ofc.

Yeah.  He never said what the deal between him/Julio/and the SF FTC dudes was.  Was it a licensing/franchise thing?  From the interview it didn't sound like the SF FTC guys had much to do with it.  Can anyone who has been to Barca recently speak on the vibe of the FTC there or how they are doing?

love how people arrive to conclusions having only heard one side of the story. They have NO idea what Lee did in Spain and yet you take his word for it. Ask anyone who WAS friends with him. Opening the store an hour late, or not even showing up, or showing up drunk with wine stains on his shirt - let's get both side of the stories here people. Why do you think he works as a store clerk? Don't you think it's suspicious after being pro that he hasn't been able to do anything else in his life? That's because he's a lazy bum who can't even get up to open HIS OWN BUSINESS. When people came into the shop he was watching tv shows on his computer with earphones on not even saying hi... Who does that? People who could care less and have no respect for anything. Would you want a guy like that in YOUR business? Walk in other people's shoes before you insult and speak without knowing. Also, do you really think the owner in SF would have let Julio keep the store if all that were true? I invite you to ask him directly and I'm sure you'll be surprised with his answer.

First I'm a big fan of everything Lee has done. but he's talking about a Peter Pan syndrome while he's 33 and living in Barcelona. I got sick of the whole Williamsburg/Greenpoint Brooklyn "Peter pan" scene when I was like 25. Barcelona sounds like Williamsburg to me. Mad young people, graffiti and stickers on everything, art shows with free beer every night, hipsters and skateboarders galore. After the interview I thought that perhaps this Julio character didn't want to take the risk of going into business with someone like Lee. whatevs. Crazy how long it takes for some people to get motivated. All the best though man.......DQM is doper than FTC anyway!

No clue about what really happend but just hearing Lee Smiths side is still just hearing one side of the story .

Its always hard to go from europe to USA and reverse . Visa problems , bank problems with getting loans and so on . lots of red tape

Might be hard for the spanish dude who is now owner of FTC to have a business with somebody who doesnt have a VISA or is taking any of the risks with bank loans and stuff


Anyways I dont know what happend , am not from barcelona so dont really care , hope Smith does well and so on !

Wow, that kind of insults are the ones that only spaniard soccer fans use... I'm tripping that people related to skateboarding use that kind of idiocy to state or answer to something.

I don't know the both sides of the story but the response to the person who translated the interview to spanish in the comments was a classic You don't have anything better to do.
