Did Fred Gall, single handedly make it acceptable to drink Heineken in public again?  It did have a bad rap:

I like Heineken, a lot. Dig the skunky taste, wish it had a higher alcohol content. Been drinking the hoppiest IPAs i can find. Usually they run abou 7%

even though it seems that "american" heineken tastes different than "our" heineken, its still red tick beer.

Heineken is pretty gross and associated with a particular kind of prick here (Ireland) but I drink it whenever I'm in Amsterdam and it is noticeably better over there.

Heineken is up there with Guinness on the big list of beers that might be better where they're from but they suck dick in America.

PBR and Black Label are staples when I'm running low on cash and don't feel like drinking 40's though. I need to finish this semester and get a god damn job already.

Guinness is a peculiar beast. Even over here it varies massively depending on the pub. It's all about the pipes, how often pints are poured,if the barman knows what he is doing etc etc. I've heard in the states they don't even do the two part pour which is essentially sacrilege.

I was in Dublin a couple of years ago and visited the Guinness brewery, they were talking about how the taste would be effected by going over the sea by boat (as it would to Europe - in US i guess its brewed on a licens somewhere?). But I don't know, I liked the beer a lot in Dublin, but you were full after drinking two pints.. its like eating a meal.

I dig Heineken around here. They are usually pretty cheap - sometimes even cheaper than the Danish (higher class) beers like Tuborg and Carlsberg. Normally I just drink beer from the local breweries since they are always cheap as fuck.

I guess its all a metter of personal taste, you say that carlsberg is higher class than heineken yet id choose a heineken over a carlsberg any day of the week

It really is all down to  personal taste I guess. I'd always take a carlsberg on draught over here ahead of a Heineken though they are both kinda pissy. I gotta say the best Irish stout I've had in a long time is Dungarvan Blackrock I dunno if they do much export but if you guys can get you hands on some give it a shot.

It's not the best brew in the world and some idiots might drink it, but really, Heineken isn't a good tasting beer?

C'mon son.

Same here, i'd drink here heineken over carlsberg anyday, however i often hear people say that the carlsberg in denmark is way better than the stuff over here in the U.K

Not a fan of the green bottle skunk taste.  I do enjoy and sometimes buy "good" beers, anything from English Porter to Blueberry Wheat.. but I often just buy whatever easy drinking 12 pack is on sale, Bud/Keith's/Moosehead/etc.

Though, I gotta say, I had Red Stripe for the first time yesterday and I found it pretty damn good.

I wouldn't drink Heineken if they gave it away for free. And I'm a Cara Pils drinker.

Seems like many a decent brew is shit in the States...

Heineken is pretty good out here in Asia. I used to work on their advertising and got to chat with their head brewer from Amsterdam. He said that the very best Heineken doesn't even come from Europe, but from their Cambodian brewery, because the water there was ideal.

I still prefer Peroni though.

I don't know about that. I'm in Japan and I still think it taste pretty bad. Probably just a matter of personal taste though.

A lot of the Asian brews from India, Indo-china, and Malaya are fucking tasty though, so maybe there is something good in the water out there.
