I am not a teenager, nor an anarchist ( or what you probably think is anarchism). I agree that there should be something to keep order. I would say that peaceful force as opposed to the oppressing force would be better. If police were taught proper ways to deal with people then I wouldn't be saying something like I said. The sad reality is that most cops are not well versed in positive psychology and  often this can lead to a misuse of their authority. most of them are overworked in pretty much every city. that is probably due to how the system to deal with crime, vagrancy, homelessness, addiction and mental health issues being so skewed and not the most efficient. I will changed what I said to " we don't need an oppressive police force, what we need is a well funded police force that only is there to intervene when there are violent crimes." Violent crimes being assaults, rapes and destruction of public and private property. Most cops are not used for that. They tend to arrest young people ( convictions that stick more on black and latinos, but that goes out without saying)  on fucking useless drug charges and other petty stuff such as graffiti and skateboarding.  Also I do come from a third world country where the police was used to beat down political opponents to the leading regime. I have had an uncle be disappeared, and my father was beat up for not being a mindless drone.  Or how about the fact that the police violently arrested g20 protestors in Toronto in 2010, and humiliated the people who they had detained.

I think it is important to remember that since we are coming up to the 20th anniversary of the L.A. riots, and we know why those begun.
I am curious to know how the police helps, other than stopping drunk driving and telling me where to catch a train.

Fuck cops like this. I've ran into many situations with the police some being more negative than others. This is a perfect example of an idiot ruining the reputation of hard working honest cops. Then again I live in Oakland,CA and I grew up in the San Fernando Valley,CA where in both cities honestly dealing with the police for skateboarding was SUPER rare because they had other things to worry about. Worst case scenario was a  security guard calling the police, if they did show up would just give us a warning..
