I've never seen any of it live. I like to watch some of the highlights on youtube and what not. Are any of you guys actually into it? I want to know if the live show or full length tv spot is entertaining. What about the scoring? I remember seeing a video a while ago about how it works and it seemed like they were onto something legit. Does it do the skating justice? in other words, is pretty clear that the winner did better tricks?

eh, i'm not into the whole skater does trick on obstacle, gets score, next skater comes and does trick on obstacle, repeat format they have.

i like the jam session format like maloof. everybody just goin for it. and whoever lands the best shit through all the obstacles wins.

and they way the scoring system is, dudes can podium by playin it safe and doin "easy" tricks (malto)

I enjoy those type of contests more myself, but the championship is at the Prudential Center which is only a 30 minute train ride from my house so I figured why not check it out.

Yeah but Malto was/is consistent as fuck. He may not always do tech shit, but his style is nice and he's really solid.

i think its pretty entertaining to watch actually, especially during the final moments in the big section.  they're also changing the format this year with 45 second runs at the beginning. if you're even remotely interested id say itd definitely be worth checking out.

i think the reason why most people are turned off from street league is the fact that its so high profile & flamboyant, which is understandable but at the end of the day its all about the skating and watching the top pro's compete for 100K+ is very interesting. its crazy to see some of those bangers goes down live in the heat of competition. theres alot of epic "sports moments" during street league, and some people might absolutely hate that but personally i think its great

I'm really surprised there's a audience for something like street league, but maybe I'm just too old or something. I never really liked watching competition footage, and I think a lot of the reasons why people didn't like vert skating in the 90's are starting to be applicable to "street" skating now.

I think it's Kalis who talks about how when he films he likes the footage based on how good the session was with his homies. I feel like that's still what street skating is about. A lot of street skating was pioneered at places like EMB, and I still love footage from those times because you can see that it was just a bunch of heads spending a whole day chilling and skating. When I was just getting into skating that kind of thing was the ONLY way skating was seen in any type of media.

So I'm definitely not into it personally...don't care about younger kids liking it but feel like they are coming up with a completely different idea of what skateboarding is.

I've never seen more than a clip here abd there, it's not my thing, but in general I like to watch skating more than other crap on TV so if I see it on someday I'll probably leave it on that channel.

Hi gentlemen, before we really get into heavy debate I'd like to state the fact that I'm a heavy advocate
Street League, here's a short list of why Street League is the way to go.

1. Organization No one knows organization like Steve Berra after executing over 20 video parts and well crafted lines the man finally
has his chance to show the kids at home, skateboarders in a safe environment, well mannered and taking turns.

2. Strategy If you wanna win you gotta plan it, only the smartest skaters qualify in Street League, it's not just the tricks
but unique scoring basis that let's you add up points by certain variations of a skateboard.

3. Professional  This is what it's all about fellas, this is what separates the men from the boys. With a live feed of over 175,000
people per year, you have to be focused, precise and vigilant. Your mommy is not gonna hold your hand here.

Yeah, ya know you're fucking right because skateboarding has never had the fortitude to withstand a little kooky tomfoolery without crumbling into oblivion...
Skateboarding Ballet - Video Small | Large

I'll watch Street League, X-Games and Dew Tour.  Not because they represent what skateboarding means to me and just how fanfuckingtastic it makes my existence but simply because I enjoy watching people do difficult things on a skateboard regardless of the format. I'll take a good skate video over them any day but getting butt hurt over the existence of skate comps is a first world problem if I have ever seen one.

I only pay for internet access at home and live nowhere near any of the cities that host it. Not that I would go out of my way to watch it, I'd just be stoked to see it if it came on.

Street League is tight, went to the Seattle one last year.

Don't know how you can hate when gnarly tricks go down? Even better since they added more (better) riders this year.

It's skateboarding after all, not bmx-ing or some shit.

I dig it man. I read somewhere, probably on Slap, that they're changing up the rules where you can drop 2 scores. Hope thatll make it more interesting.
