Penny got his start on mini ramps. He came to Southbank a couple times when I lived in London (95/96) and tore it up, but also drank/smoked a shit ton.

was that a collection of the worst skateboard graphics ever made?
"does he (penny) have some kind of mental disorder?" hahaha
Yeah I can't believe O'Dell actually asked that?!?!
I wonder what Penny thinks/would think about that being out there...
you honestly think penny would give a shit?
I don't know, never spoken a word to the guy. That's why I said "I wonder."
Would you want publicized that you have a mental disorder?
is your signature really your own quote?

As much as I love Arto, that made me want to see a whole Penny episode. More unseen footage and stories of Penny would make me the happiest man in the world.
I had the same thought. A Penny episode would be amazing.
fact.
Couldn't agree more. When it comes to skateboarding, Penny is a giant amongst men.

I dunno if I'm imagining things, but I remember either someone posting about or linking to the sequence of arto doing the famous long kinked back lip in mindfield, except he came out fakie and rolled away to the curb before falling off.does anyone have the sequence or know if one even existed?

It's pretty cool Arto is getting known for locking into grinds and slides. I've never thought about that aspect of Arto's skating. If someone asked me, "What is Arto known for?" I'd probably describe him as one of the original tech-gnar dudes, and not this dude who locks in a slides/grinds with the sickest style and grinds/slides forever. That is pretty cool they are pointing that numerous times so far, unique observation imo.

Yeah, I feel the same way. It's a unique way to talk about somebody. Once they mentioned it though, I started thinking about all of his parts and realized that even though I wasn't aware of it until these episodes, it was always something I really liked about his skating. I sub-consciously noticed it and knew it was going on, just couldn't put it into words.

This story has only made it to the year 2000-this one has gotta have another 3 episodes, at least.

ARTO SAARI/FLIP SORRY PART (HQ)

I think the reason I really liked Arto when this part came out was how consistent and well practised he seemed to be despite still coming across like he didn't give a fuck. The mirroring of tricks at the start of the part kinda showcased his ambidextrous, universal skill. Kinda his version of the Tom Penny Chain to Bank spot shutdown. I think it's funny that most skaters loved Flip back then, which was a company pretty much the sum of it's talent and the consistency/technicality/largeness of the tricks they did - mixed with the charisma of the riders. Those same skaters probably have a low opinion of companies with the same simple remit today (Baker etc.), now that they've grown into their 20's or older.

I'd actually really like to see an Epicly Later'd episode about
Tony Hawks Pro Skater
. That game was responsible for such a huge boom in skateboarding's popularity. I think playing that is my generation's equivalent of the 'Back to the Future' nostalgic reminisce. I'm sure at least in part that game secured the careers of a few skaters involved.

I see your point. Perhaps a single episode would be enough, but i do think it would be interesting to hear Tony talk about it's beginnings and then he and the other guys perhaps reflecting on it's impact and their career growth. Of course, this would have to be one episode of a 25-part Tony Hawk series.
