i think it's a good thing that arto's planning to go out more like health than to start filming wallie parts. guys an inspiration for his lifestyle off the board as much as for on. he shows, like many other older pros have, that you can balance healthy family with passion for skating all while aging gracefully. you don't have to go out like weining, vallely, etc... good on ya arto!

Looking at Arto's life, seeing how much he's accomplished, it's so easy to look at your life & say "what the fuck have I done?" (at least that's how I feel) . It's like, he's only 30 years old but he's lived a life filled with adventures, stories & the highest highs anyone could ever imagine.
I'm beyond hyped on this Arto series. Wish there were more.

Yeah I am super hyped on this series. Favorite part was Rowley semi-asking him to ride for Flip but he had no idea what Rowley was saying. I feel he's still got at least one more part before he calls it.

I remember him having an interview years ago when he was still on flip and etnies and he was saying he was slowing down and skating "different stuff" and his next part is gonna be mostly ditches and transition, that was that transworld interview I believe. Then a couple years later he came out with that gnarly Alien part. The good thing about dudes like Arto is that he doesn't have to have the gnarliest part, he's one of those timeless skaters who will look good just doing anything on a skateboard.

I think what he's doing right now, skating more pools and stuff, is really cool though. He was coming up at the height of the hammer time era, and that was a time when a lot of the younger street skaters could barely drop in. I've always thought a pro skateboarder's job is to show people all the shit that's possible to do on a board. If after all this time Arto can learn how to do big bs airs in a pool like Lance, then that would be just as sick as seeing him do a bunch more huge rails. It would inspire people like "wow I could still do a lot with skating, learn completely new shit even if I'm no kid anymore"...

As they were saying in the episode he can do whatever he wants now. The dude has had six serious knee injuries and I bet he's over filming the gnarliest parts he can, just like Heath Kirchart. His Sorry part is more than anyone could ask for, just throw that in the vcr and remind yourself that it may be the best "part" of all time.

I think the whole skate company as dysfunctional family thing is sort of corny.  I can see having a group of friends that you've been through a lot with and feel a strong connection with but having it be centered around a skateboard company just seems silly. Plus the next shot after he said that was Arto and Rowley standing around the pool looking like sk8r life partners (no hate on life partners) with their brood of hungry ams.  A skateboard company just needs to be a skateboard company...not a "family." 

I laughed at the Terry Kennedy reaction shot. 

The best skateboard companies are formed around that "family'' aspect. Are you saying you want more teams like Darkstar and World Industries?

It seems like he isn't even all that happy to be back at Flip.  He might like the fact that Geoff & company are there, but I can't imagine him being stoked on anything else about the company.  Looking back, I wish he never left Alien.

The Alien graphic is just as bad. Alien's art direction is just as hit and miss as Flips.  Also whatevs about Bastien doing coke, how many pros smoke tons of weed. Ali Boulala is still on. Bastien was kicked off for just being a kook.

going back to the two t shirts thing, I'm sticking by it. The back lip was a different day. I think they confused it and he did the feeble and the crook on the same day. If you watch sorry again, he is wearing the navy shirt on the feeble, the crook, and the nollie noseslide at wilshire, where they went immediately after skating that spot. Going from one shirt to the other and back to the first shirt doesn't make sense.

Boulala is either suicidal or a serious fucking callous asshole if he is still drinking.

^^ I remember him being quoted as having a beer when he got out and being surprised at how awful it tasted, couldn't believe he had drank so much of it in the past.
