I don't want to sound harsh, but that's a pretty ignorant statement.

Your view just sounds very ethnocentric. You gotta understand that you think the way you think because of what you're been exposed to. The mind is a sponge and a computing device.

I guess you would say "rational" people living in modern societies, with access to education and limitless, free information, should be able to come to the conclusion that: fill in the blank. (an idea, I'd presume, that is more inline with yours)

However, like I said, we've all been exposed to different things and shaped by even the smallest of incidences. Basically, you need to take a deterministic approach to the world. Understand that if you were that person, you'd be exactly the same way.
