Basically, how we're taught to tie our shoes is the weaker form of that particular knot, and if you tie the knot in the other direction it is much stronger.

I often have to double knot my shoes cause they come undone a lot when skating which I don't like to do because they become a bitch to take off at the end of the day (I like my shoes tight) so this has been real helpful.

P.S.
this is from a really good site that y'all should look around. It's basically all the smartest people giving talks about good shit like why our education system doesn't work and why remix's should be legal.

idk, i tied my shoes normal and got the strong knot. i use the right loop though and not the left like he did.

TED talks are the shit. I laughed when I saw this one because they're usually about how to change the world and stuff. Still hella useful though.

I did and I realized that I wasn't wrong... tying in the other direction left me with the bow orienting in the wrong direction... however, I'm from Europe

That's how I've been tying my shoes from the get go. I thought everyone did it like that? Guess not.
Good to know I've been doing it right all these years, at least I've been doing one thing in my life right ahah.

Weird, this is how I've always tied my shoes. I had trouble figuring out how to do it the 'weak' way.

But then again, I've been on this program for awhile. skip to 1:00
