I get what you're saying about the music, and I also am anti 3D, but Dicaprio as The Great Gatsby?  Fuck yeah, I'm in.

You guys don't know how much I loathe 3D - the technology is just not there yet and it just ruins the fucking film. You'd think Ridley Scott would know a thing or two about this. Why would you compromise color and brightness for some vague sense of depth? You'd have to be a 5 year old to be entertained by maybe having something fly into your face for a few seconds within the film. It's a stupid gimmick that is a waste of time and money. Yes, I do feel strongly about this.

I'll extend the hype a bit. At this year's CinemaCon, both The Hobbit and Life Of Pi showed off about 10 minutes of footage from each film. Peter Jackson was boasting his footage in all of its 48fps super high-def glory. Fanboys did not like what they saw. Something along the lines of "too hyper-realistic". Following that was footage from The Life of Pi which literally blew everyone away. Everyone was tripping at how beautiful it was. Everyone lost their shit a little more when Ang Lee announced that the footage they just watched had unfinished effects. This one will be an Oscar contender for sure.

Prometheus isn't your standard post-production 3D conversion though. From wikipedia; "The production used five of 3ality Technical's Atom 3D rigs, four of which were configured with Red Epic 3D cameras set up for use on camera dollies and tripods, which were continuously in use during filming. The fifth rig employed an Epic camera for use as a steadicam, which was only used as required".

I believe it's the same way Peter Jackson is filming The Hobbit. Same cameras and everything, the only difference is it's being presented in standard 24fps instead of 48fps like The Hobbit. It should be almost how Avatar was in 3D, I think.

But my point is, the technology is definitely there. It just has to be done right. Compare it to HD in skate videos. 

Either way, I most likely won't be seeing it in 3D because of how much they fuckin charge for that shit.

Knowing that something was shot in 3D rather than being a typical post-production hack job conversion still won't win me over, I actually saw Avatar in 3D (didn't care for the movie or the 3D). I mean, if that's what you like then by all means.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Peter Jackson handles this higher framerate - seems like reactions have been mixed from people who've seen the footage, hyper polished picture, I'm down for that.

Yeah 3D really isn't for everyone. It's not a great idea in general for most movies, in my opinion. But I still think Prometheus deserves a little more recognition for trying to do it right, instead of just throwing it in post-production to increase ticket sales.

I'm not a huge fan or remakes especially since its one of the horror/slasher flicks I love but I must admit this has me intrigued.  I don't know if it's the POV shots or the fact that Frodo is gonna be on a killing spree.  It looks like they kept the subway scene which is cool;  Now if they have Tom Savini getting killed i'll be sold.
