At www.MESH01.com we have recently launched a competition for aspiring footwear designers to design concepts for a futuristic skate shoe that aids a skater's performance.  Rather than just having designers draw what they think skaters would be into, we would like them to work with you, a community of experts, to really dial in on your needs.

Over the upcoming weeks we will be directing designers to this forum to discuss skate shoes and the design process.  We hope that you will help the designers to better understand your needs/wants as a skater.  We will also be encouraging designers to post designs early and often to get your feedback.  The ultimate goal is to create an open dialogue between skaters and designers so that each can share equal part in the process.

We look forward to working with the Slap Magazine Community to co-create some awesome skate shoe designs.

Visit http://bit.ly/K61gL1 to learn more.

Thanks in advance.

Is D3 the impact fabric?

Does anyone have images of some of their old worn out shoes? It would be great to see where they are worn out, blown out, or just plain falling apart.

What are some of the things that you want from a skate shoe?

1) Grippy soles that don't wear, but are also pliable.

2) One piece toes that don't rip, but also breathe.

3) Laces that don't rip, and stay tied.

4) Heel hold.

get that and you're set.   You're welcome.

Yeah, this sounds an awful lot like a consulting job so I'm gonna need to see a couple grand.

Or, like, I don't know, maybe there are a few threads right above this fucking one with well over 200/500 pages WHERE ALL WE DO IS TALK ABOUT SHOES AND POST PHOTOS OF SKATED IN SHOES! Maybe, like, that would be a good place to do some research? Just spitballin' here.

dude....you don't even...

you sound like you've never even...

do you even know what a skateboard is? And you think you're going to come in and reinvent the wheel?

You'd be able to answer all of your own questions if you've actually skated for any amount of time.

This is a forum for skateboarders, not people trying to make a buck of skateboarders

you should attend a "how to properly spell a thread-title" seminar first.

You are right I am not a skate boarder nor is it my intention to pretend otherwise.  We are hosting a footwear design competition for aspiring footwear designers and thought skate shoes would be a fun theme.  The idea was to have the aspiring footwear designers come here to talk shoes with you guys, the experts.  You are the ones who skate every day and know what is really important about a shoe and what is just fluff.

We are not trying to make a buck off of skateboarders only trying to help the aspiring designers and, if we can, design better products for the skate community. We thought it would be fun if you where involved in the process.

Huber I have a story for you,
Once, when I was eleven, I was at my old Jewish grandfather's house, he was wearing a robe for it was passover morning. Let me reassure you he was a demented old old man, beyond gone cognitively, I hear my mom yelling no Reuven stop! I walk into the kitchen, he is swinging his old floppy dick at my mother. I had no idea what to do. We had him put in a home shortly after.
Design a shoe off of that.

I agree, I've been buying other shoes just to wear around, but these are probably the only thing I see myself skating for the near future. And some of the ones I wear around just so I don't feel bad about buying them

i think there's a reason why skaters are going back to classic silhouettes from brands like vans.  If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

No other shoe beats a half cab in performance, PERIOD! Stick an insole in that bitch and you have a magically perfect shoe.  Case Closed.

tech21 demonstrates D30 Impact fabric for SlashGear

insoles?

Hey, you nerds! How bout instead of making a shoe, you design a really good insole.

Skateboarding has a shit-ton of shoes, but only a handful of worthy insoles.
