Post here if you have tips and or questions about altering/tailoring clothes or whatever.
I just got this jacket and it's a bit too long. Would a tailor be ablet o shorten it for me or whatever? I feel like someone told me once you can't do it with plasticy waterproof material but whatever thought i'd ask. peace n luv n harmony you all.

I'm always tinkering around with my shoes. I had plantar fasciitis pretty bad a handful of years ago, so I'm always altering my shoes to make them more comfortable. I like skating in classic Vans, but the insoles suck balls. So what I usually do is take a butter knife to the foam insole. Usually takes about 20 or so minutes. When I'm done I put in Rite Aid double thick insoles in the bottom. They come about .25" thick but they mush down pretty good. On top of that I put in my insole of choice. I usually have my TNT 2 PU insoles (beat to shit), Nike SB insole, or Kingfoam. I have arch issues, so I usually put strips of duct tape on top of the Rite Aid insole, kind of building a little bulge in the arch area for support. This set up works pretty good and makes almost any pair of Vans, really comfortable. I have fairly wide feet and I don't find them being constricted either. If your feet hurt, but you like skating Vulc shoes, give it a try. I'm skating a pair of CONS CTS right now with the same set up and it works pretty good, especially considering how thin that shoe is.

Oh, and I have no advice on your jacket. I don't fuck around with clothes.

Beer Keg, a tailor would be able to do that, I'm pretty sure. I don't see why not. Around here we have these clothes-altering places in malls called Stitch-it. You probably have something similar in your town. They do all kinds of altering and it might be the cheapest way to go if you don't have the skills to do it yourself.
Worth a shot.

The only time I altered anything was with a pair of suede era's. The canvas was light blue and the suede was black. I didn't like the light blue so I took a black sharpie and colored in both shoes until they were full black. I remember immediately regretting it the second I finished.

The cost of having a tailor bring that jacket up, would be too expensive when all is said and done. Dealing with that ripcord at the bottom that brings in the jacket - that would be a pain in the ass.

If the bottom of the jacket is just a straight seam all the way around, it should be straight forward to shorten it.
Sewing isn't that hard. You just have to have some patience. I hem and take in/taper my own pants if they don't fit how I want them.

Yeah so I sold the large and bought a medium. Best alteration i've ever done.
Except for the time I cut the sleeves off my 'fuck ya'll i'm from texas shirt'. it is now my everyday shirt.

this is totally possible with the right tailor. i when i buy clothes for super cheap, but a size too big, i get it altered. it usually ends up making whatever i bought a full price item in the end, but sometimes you just have to go for it. a good taylor can usually alter shirts, pants, and even denim. i once also had a pair of jeans 'slimmed down'. They basically took it apart, cut fabric, and put it back together using measurements from a sample pair i gave them to go off of.
I would also recommend going to a Vietnamese or other asian spot where english might be their second language. It's usually less expensive, and they are able to do basically anything you ask because they are very skilled. The only problem is the language barrier though. And alterations are not the thing that you want miss-communicated....
