The name that comes to mind when I think of Bossa Nova is Vinicius de Moraes, though I really know very little about it.

He isn't strictly affiliated to Bossa Nova music and composed many other types of songs and and lyrics, since he was also a poet.

This is from his wikipedia;

 In 1958, the singer Elizete Cardoso released her album Cancao do Amor Demais, marking the beginning of bossa nova. This record consists wholly of compositions by the Jobim-Vinicius partnership, or by either of the two (Cancao do Amor Demais, Luciana, Estrada Branca, Chega de Saudade, Outra Vez...). The recording also featured a relatively unknown Joao Gilberto on two tracks. With the release of this record, Vinicius's career in music (as well as that of many involved with him) may be said to have truly begun.

This is one of the first Bossa Nova songs. Written by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, 'Chega de Saudade' ("No More Blues" or 'Enough Longing'. There isn't really an English word for 'saudade').

Lisa Ono (小野リサ, Ono Risa) is a popular Japanese bossa nova singer. She was born in S?o Paulo, Brazil in 1962 but moved with her family to Tokyo at the age of 10, where her father owned Saci Perere, a Brazilian restaurant. From that time on she spent half of every year in Japan, and half in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
