In my experience these hood spots always have skaters and non-skaters hanging out all day everyday smoking weed and drinking beer. Unless you're too cool to be homies with these guys you wouldn't know how hyped they are to be chilling in the hood at this thugged out spot.

So people do go to these places for the atmosphere. What unique spots do you know of that are deep in the hood, say the most dangerous neighborhoods in America or in the world that you can't find anywhere else?

This attitude exists because conscious hip hop is dead and everyone wants to be a gangster.

Whatever man. The fact that people label it as the hood, are creating an atmosphere, and not so much for the spot.

just focus already dude.

dude whatever, skating in the hood sounds so stupid. Say that out loud to your friends, "lets go skate in the hood!" hahaha. c'mon that sounds like a movie or something. They got leprechauns in the hood. Be careful.

i think youre the only skateboarder that doesnt understand the fun in skating new spots. people arent going to the hood to skate for the fuck of it, theyre usually going to skate something that you cant find else

this pike. skateboarders don't go "lets go skate the hood cause its edgy and we might get fucked with." or "lets skate the hood, i love the atmosphere." skateboarders are more like "hey lets go skate this spot...." not really giving a fuck where it is. because we are skateboarders, not crybabies like you clearly are.

after skating some spots in the suburbs today i was reminded how much i love the city.

today i was detained and searched for an hour for skating a parking lot. the cop was convinced that i had marijuana somewhere hidden on my body and that my camera was stolen. a cop in the city would have never wasted his time like that

Im thinking youre trolling at this point, but this miami banked ledge at 3:07 isnt in the best part of town.
Classics: Danny Renaud "Mosaic" Small | Large

theres also that plaza full of flat ledges in miami thats in a lot of videos, i think wenning has a back nosegrind nollie heel out in the dc video

im canadian and we dont have hoods, but im sure some people who live in America would be able to name off tons of spots worth skating in sketchy areas

Was skating in a "safe area" once and had some old man pull out a 45. and put it to my heart and then he shoved me after him sitting there with the gun on my chest for five minutes saying he had a concealed carriers permit so he had a right to blow me away.

If you do happen to go skate in a sketchier part of town just don't go in acting like a fucking kook. Be cool and polite and mind you're own and most other people will too. People in the "hood" are usually cooler with skating than suburbanites.

It's not the hood but a few locals from Medford wanted to fight me and my homies because we were from California.

Working down in South Central I got to see a lot of that part of the city. I was pretty surprised at how many really famous spots are in really really sketchy parts of LA. A lot of the world/girl/chocolate dudes specifically have skated a lot of spots down there that I'm surprised they even found.

In Oakland, plenty of rad ones. They don't rebuild a lot of the old infrastructure there so you get the stuff they would have destroyed a long time ago. Lots of good banks, lower handi-cap rails, etc. On the other hand a lot of the bad neighborhoods around here are having little modern plazas built everywhere that can be fun.

Yeah in Canada there really isn't any ghettos, just areas with low income and high drug usage, i used to live around these sketchy banks that are actually in the new SBC, Nothing but junkies doing junky shit.

Peace park is probably the most iconic "Ghetto spot" in Canada and that place is dope

You don't really have to answer that. He's like an old lady who doesn't have anything to do with a spot you are skating coming up and telling you to leave and asking why you don't skate somewhere else. We all know the answer to that. When you see a sick spot, you want to skate it. Sometimes that sick spot is in the ghetto.
The thing about it is for the most part its no big deal. In my experience skating in the ghetto you get hassled a lot less for skating spots, and as long as you aren't flashing super expensive shit around or acting disrespectfully, most people don't really care. Its not like the second you step into the ghetto its just a free-for-all with everybody running around shooting and stabbing everybody and fires everywhere. Bad shit is more likely to happen in the ghetto, but its not like it happens constantly. If that were the case the LA Riots would be just another day, and they weren't. The biggest threat you probably will face is possibly getting your stuff stolen. If you are with your friends and skating during the day, nothing bad is likely to happen. If you are walking alone on the sidewalk late at night, be on guard, but we're not really talking about that.
