^ i was thinking the same thing about the rationalizations, people guarding their core points closely

as far as sheckler's run not being street, i completely disagree with that point. i thought there was almost no transition elements in it. ollieing into a gnarly quarter is more street than transition from my world view and i think the heart of slap has always been that good street skating is more about style, flow and creativity than it is about checking off hammers at the most obvious spots available.

Did paul learn those fence pushes from THPS, Sheckler charged hard and fast and skated the whole course.

I'm confused, I thought all these guys signed exclusive competitive contracts to stay just in Street League? Except when Rob allowed Cole to try and nab $1,000,000 from the Maloofs.

i was watching the x-games yesterday (can't skate broke my body in half, had no shoes to skate in either, it was raining outside, it was too hot outside too, i stopped daydreaming about cardiel, slipped and fell in front of the tv and happened to catch it, it's always sunny had a commercial break, moms wanted to cream over sheckler)

just kidding, get the fuck over it you watch the x-games.

had a huge rant but reduced it to this-

another contest Prod won for making skating look as boring as possible. Huh

Seriously though, why design an amazing course then award 1st place to the guy that only used 1% of the course.

And Copenhagen and shit too. I think it was originally done in an attempt to make maloof and x games irrelevant, but then to be broadcast on ESPN, street league allowed x-games.

What you didn't see is that the fence push was really a "sticker slap".  And that's worth hella points.  Pushing him over Sheckler.

I would like to see a breakdown on the judging criteria.

Tech dif - 5 pts
style - 2pts
use of coarse - ohh fuck that
variety - 2 pts,  Chaz did 3 5050's in a run, on fence/ledge/rail or what ever.  Doing the same run 5 times in a row?  Boring, fucking boring.
how much money your sponsors kicked in - 8 pts
stop and hop off board more than once - 4 pts - i hate that shit, figure out how to work a coarse.

To me, Sheckler was the only one even remotely interesting in the finals.

Sheckler cruised the whole park, props for that, however, he was sloppy, and sloppy for doing the same run over and over? Paul's line got cleaner and lets be real, aren't most you just hating because P-rod's pants weren't tighter than Shecklers?
I wanted to see Ishod get into the finals. But it was sick seeing David Gonzales and Manny in there. Manny's line was gnarly in my opinion, that nollie flip into the bank at the start, holy fuck it was perfect.

In response to the original post, I only saw the first couple heats and might've missed something here but though Sheckler did really well, I thought Lizard King and Jaws use the course way more creatively. Lizard King going up over the super steep 1/4 into a backside grind on the curved wall and bringing it down into the bank was nuts and a line nobody else followed. Then Jaws ollieing from a deck out onto the wavy dinosaur tail thing was ridiculous. Sheckler was raw, I didn't see it as super unique though. Even Mikey Taylor grinding the fence into the bank and the guy who backside flipped the picnic table lengthwise were sick. Point is that the part I watched, there was a lot of stuff that stuck out. I was hoping Taylor Bingamin would pull out a longshot victory, sucks to hear it was p-Rod's back and forth routine that won it.

Damn I'm kinda torn, I really really liked Shecklers run, especially the blunt transfers, but goddamn that was one beautiful ssfsbs by Prod.

Wait, what am I saying? That fakie foot-down push-off thing from paul should have been an instant disqualification. You're one of the most technical street skaters of all time but you can't look halfway comfortable going up and down a bank? Fuck that.

I find Nyjah's style more boring than P-Rod's.

To me, P-Rod doesn't have bad style.

I think he looked weird going up the bank because its a timed event, he doesn't give a fuck in between tricks on what he does.

I can tell he doesn't give a fuck what he does in between tricks, but that's exactly what I'm complaining about. It's called a run for a reason.

I suppose the ones to blame are the judges; PRod could flow around that course pretty well if he wanted (though arguably never as good as sheckler did there), but he knows that won't win, so he does stinky bullshit in between his flawless tricks. Who judges the x-games? Fuck those guys.

^nyjah lost 50 points for tic-tacing round that corner

How the fuck did prod beat sheckler though, shecklers run was better in prety much everyway.

One thing you have to realize about Paul's winning run is that if it was cut together without all the in between trick stuff, you'd have a legit little street part. Switch kickflip over the rail, switch flip fs boardslide, switch front blunt down the rail and switch 360 flip down the big set. I'll definitely admit that Sheckler's run was more impressive from a transition point of view, but this was the street contest, not the park contest and Paul was rewarded for doing mostly all legit street tricks. Plus, Paul had really good style and all of his tricks were done flawlessly. Skateboarding is so subjective that rarely does the consensus agree, but I tip my hat off to Paul here and acknowledge that he did the best street tricks in the street contest.

Yeah But it is a Run in other words if your filming a street part, it would be a line. when your filming a line you wouldnt get off your board you keep doing tricks back in fourth. your supposed to flow and just do tricks in a row which sheckler did much better than paul

but did anyone noticed how bitchy nyjah sounded when he ran into the camera man. c'mon look where your going

Not making excuses for watching, I just usually don't watch that much TV in a row if it's not wrestling.
Actually I watched all that shit. The race cars, the motorcycle stuff. It was funny, my wife walked by and said "Those guys on motorcycles are going very slow." Then 20 minutes later she walked by again and was like..."you're still watching this shit?!"
As far as core points go...I think I'm in the negative anyways.
