" I called Spike Jonze and got hooked up with these two genius skateboard guys. Just being able to call him and saying ?I want Peter Parker to skate,? and him saying ?I?ve got this great double for you,?

I went home to my apartment in Chelsea and I was so high and happy and sad and it was 2:30 am and I was like ?I don?t want to go to bed yet.? I have a little cruiser with big fat wheels and nice loose trucks and I put Cat Stevens on my iPod and I went skating for like two hours until like 5 in the morning, just roaming around the drunken streets. It was one of the most beautiful nights ever. I was on a high from the play but then I just had this beautiful moment cruising around the streets. I had no time to do anything but prep for the play. It was great, weaving in and out of drunk people and taxis, I strained my ankle and I was so tired but it was so perfect."

sounds like the kid has a little understanding of skateboarding. thats kinda cool. was the movie any good?

Film was awesome, any clue on who the stunt double was? I cant wait for "The Amazing Spiderman 2" as ridiculous as that would sound. Glad there's no more fucking Toby Maguire.

I was just thinking "the only thing Tobey Maguire was good for, was Can't Hardly Wait", but then I realized that's not him, so fuck that guy.

The spiderman series is not great...by any means.

I haven't seen the first one in a longg time, so I won't comment on that one

Second one did not age well. I remember really liking it when it came out, but I re-watched it about half a year ago, and the whole thing was super cheesy, acting was pretty poor. I know it's a comic book movie, but it just didn't feel like they were going for cheese, but that's what they got.

Third movie. Jesus Christ, what a shitfest that was.

fuck, I'll take iron man 1+2 over the entire spiderman triology, and I didn't even like the second iron man that much.

This. Pretty much the most laughable scene I've seen in a while. I like just walking down the street and shooting fake guns at women as they pass now. This and his over-dramatic acting just ruined the spiderman series, 1st was great and the 2nd and 3rd sucked. Yeah I agree though, I don't think anything can top these new Batman Movies, The Dark Knight Rises will be awesome.

I really liked it. It wasn't paced very well, as in, there were slow parts and parts I wish lasted longer but the movie overall didn't feel too long. The acting was great, the action scenes were comprehensible, the CGI worked well, and the web swinging scenes really had an awesome comic book feel to them. I like Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man way more than Tobey's. I'm glad it's going to be a trilogy, as long as they stick with the same people behind it.

spidermans fucking burnt

seriously.

i don't get how any of you guys are into watching another Spiderman movie in 2012. what's left to cover? how many times do you need to see his whole backstory and early beginnings?

i'm sorta happy that the comic book industry is running Hollywood at the moment, but i'm sick and tired of seeing the same super heroes over and over. it's like the same ones keep being made and remade to death (Spiderman, Batman, Superman, X-Men, Ironman, etc.) the big DC and Marvel stories are basically ingrained in our brains by now.

DC has a really good imprint called Vertigo and i'd honestly love to see some of their titles on the big screen (Preacher, Sandman, 100 Bullets, Transmetropolitan.) also, Charles Burns' Black Hole was supposed to be made into a movie with David Fincher directing and Neil Gaiman writing the script, but that fell through (it's still in development though, i think.) Jack Black's production company is currently trying to make Daniel Clowes Death Ray into a movie with Chris Milk directing, so that should be something different as well. (both of those books are by Fantagraphics and all of their material is quality.)

the world of comic books/graphic novels has so much more to offer than just super heroes kickin butt in tights. the general public is going to keep supporting this unimaginative shit, but there is an abundance of great material out there that gets overlooked when it comes to adapting comics to film. i know flicks like The Spirit and Watchmen didn't work out so well, but i hope more titles like that are given a shot in the future.

I'm stoked that William Spencer is a part of that.  I know he's done large production stunt work, but being able to do skate stunt work is perfect for the skate ninja.  Mike Marks would also be a perfect stunt double for that dude.

Not movies. HBO series. And you have to add Hellblazer to the list too. That Keanu Reeves shit didn't count.

yes x 1,000.

i've heard of fans hoping HBO would take on some of these Vertigo comics before. it would be a perfect fit.

(i was going to mention Hellblazer but i didn't because of that turrible Constantine abomination. you're right though, that garbage doesn't count.)

There are a crazy amount of comic/graphic novel related movies coming out next year.

  • Man of Steel
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor 2
  • RED 2
  • 300 Sequel
  • The Wolverine
  • Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
  • R.I.P.D.
  • Bullet to the Head
  • I, Frankenstein
  • And a Fantastic Four reboot

That's just what's scheduled for release in 2013. Comics are definitely big in the film industry right now.

Stan lee said in an interview with cnn that a Dr. Strange movie is in the works, I also read in a different article that, with the Dr. Strange movie, they'd be working towards a "Defenders" movie in the same way that they did the Avengers, except all with a darker, supernatural tone.
