Promo video & all the main info + specs will be at the link below

Kickstarter is like a fundraising site for creative projects. The OUYA's goal was $950,000 by August 9th and they've already reached over $2 million within the first two days. This thing definitely has potential!

It's an open-source console. While technically its only 3/4ths as powerful as the current gen consoles the potential for hardward upgrades, mods, and things like that really make this thing interesting. For game developers, its a godsend as the actual console itself is like a dev kit. Expect tons of mobile game ports (the center of the controller is a touchpad) and possibly a few titles from bigger game developers in the future. I think this thing can really take the game industry by storm once the PEOPLE start adding all their own crazy mods and indie games to the experience.
If we can actually upgrade the console's hardware and take advantage of it's potential, the possibilities are endless. Imagine playing Skyrim ona console with mods or something. At only $99, I'm really tempted to pre-order one. If they can have 2-3 really good lauch titles I'll probably pull the trigger. The funding for the Kickstarter page ends August 9th and they've already gotten close to 4 million within the few couple of days. The official launch is supposed to be somewhere around March so depending on how much funding they get by August it might provoke some AAA game developers to get involved sooner than expected.

the hype behind this will deflate very fast once it's released and only plays dumbed down AAA titles and gets flooded by a zillion crappy phone games that i'd rather play for free with ad support instead of buying and playing for 10 minutes before realizing it blows. I'd like to be optimistic, but this thing sounds like a marketing campaign wet dream more than a viable gaming console.

So it's a PC.
With a rebranded Xbox controller.

This thing seems pretty awesome to me. It would be convenient to have all my emulators working on my living room and bedroom tvs and see what the open source community/hackers/pirates could do with this. The main issues I would be concerned about would be a lot of android games are meant to be displayed in portrait at a low resolution, would add a ton of dead space in landscape and would look terrible on a good television.
Having said that I could see this thing next to the wii u, ps3 and 360 in my living room and not collecting dust.
