Hey guys, so a few months ago i tried asking some people over at Deluxe if they can find a specific spitfire hat i've been looking for ever since the first Beauty and the Beast came out. I asked whoever was running their facebook if he's seen it. He said no, but he'll keep an eye out for it. I took that comment as a grain of salt type of deal, cause lets face it, every time you hear someone say that, you'll actually never hear from them again. I didn't want to sound like some beggar but i really just wanted the damn hat. So i decided to ask Jim and he looked for it but with no prevail. And out of the of his kindness of his big heart, he went ahead and sent me an Anti Hero hat. I couldn't find the words that can describe how appreciative i was of him. So i told him i would continue to spread the good word of Deluxe for the rest of my days. But it doesn't really stop there; today i received an email from someone working at Deluxe saying how they had just been able to get that Spitfire hat that i wanted made! He just needed my address and he said he was going to send it right away. I've been a Deluxe head for most of my skate life, but this just made me respect them even more. Thanks to Jim and Damon over a Deluxe for everything!! I just hope its not some scam..

Fuck yeah, that is sick, Deluxe is the best. I wrote a facebook message to Damon a few times, and he always replied quickly. Great people over at Deluxe.

Anytime I come in contact with the deluxe dudes via email/ facebook/ instagram or whatever, its always a good time. And Mic-e sometimes likes the random pitures of my pug.

Seriously one of the best companies out. They helped me get into the REAL video premiere to even getting me some decks and all for being on this forum. That is why I buy nothing but DLX stuff.

I went with the owners of the shop I ride for out to SF for a skate trip a few winters ago. We stopped by the DLX office/warehouse/factory just to say "what's up" to our rep. We were greeted with nothing but hospitality. Got a personal tour of everything from Mic-E, bumped into to Tommy G in the art department and got to see some Krooked art that was being played around with. Mic-E gave us some Thunder base plates that don't have any holes drilled, just a souvenir type thing. Got to rummage through a box of samples and old gear, grabbed a few sick spitfire shirts. Then we went into Jim's office and sat down with him for a little while and talked shop, while talking to him the one shop owner asked about certain Thunder truck that was on Jims desk that looked off, he asked Jim "dude whats up with that truck, it looks crazy" Jim replied with "oh you actually weren't supposed to see these, they are a prototype we are toying with. But since you guys did see it anyone want to test ride them for us?" Without hesitation I spoke up and got to ride some crazy prototype trucks the rest of the week. Really wish they would release those too cause they were awesome! Around the time we finished talking with Jim it was about dinner time, and he yelled down the hall to Mic-E "hey Mic, you wanna take these guys to grab some food". So after all the stuff that already happened we jumped in one of the team vans with John Alden and went to a burrito shop and Mic-E and DLX bought us dinner.

So a quick little pop in at the office turned into a 4 hour skate nerds wet dream. I am not sure many other companies would have went out of their way as much as DLX did on such short notice/. I will always support DLX they live, breath, eat and sleep skateboarding!

I'd rather they pay their riders twice as much than have all this great customer service, but its still better than a lot of companies do.

If the riders weren't happy they would leave. Sometimes its about more than money, from what I can tell being apart of DLX is like being in a family.

pretty sure that is a main reason as to why so many people keep on buying there products- im a thunder rider for life based of the fact i got a pair on here for free to test out.

We've all read about how ex-riders are treated by mickey, and with dlx owning so many different companies, it really limits your options for afterwards. I also work for my family, and certainly am underpaid/help out more because its my family.at the end of the day though it is my job, as skating is theirs.they should be making a good living, they are just as talented as guys on any other teams.also other companies like girl/alien seem like a family as well, and you don't hear about them getting paid next to nothing. I don't dislike dlx, I use a ton of their products, I just wish paying their team was higher up on their priority list.

Wasn't the whole Mickey thing like a super long time ago? And there's only been so many ex riders with Real anyways. I swear I can only think of Darrell that actually left on bad terms. Everyone else seemed to leave to start new companies like with Cairo, Matt Field and Nate Jones.

Just gotta say to Icenine, I wonder if you realize how expensive it is to run a brand? Do you know how true-ly crappy the margins on boards are? Do you know how much shit you need to sell in order to Pay a team, supply them product, take them on trips, run ads, throw events, ect. ect. ect.

Shit is rough, and yes DLX sells a shit load but they also do a shit load! And not just for skatings elite, they do alot for the people that really keep skating moving forward, the skaters.

There are some things I would do different were I over there, but hell, they're doing a pretty fucking good job!!

This is how far I got:
"i tried asking some people over at Deluxe if they can find a specific spitfire hat"
Fucking hell man. I'm not even going to read further.
You are talking people like Thiebaud and Guerrero? You know who those dudes are? Old skaters? Yes.

As he explained further he said he talked to Jim, so yes it is safe to assume he knows who they are.

Just to further reinforce everyone else's comments, Deluxe is one of the best companies, amazing products (except Spitfire), amazing teams and amazing people behind the scenes.

My whole set-up has always been all-Deluxe til this latest set of Bones STFs. Best boards, best customer service, everything. The standard that all other companies should follow. Seems like the Google of skateboarding.

I worked at Visalia Y.M.C.A. skatecamp for 5 years just before/up to the Elementization of the camp. Prior to the Element take over, Deluxe was a huge supporter and they always came through to hang out and stoked everyone out. Deluxe is rad.

For what it's worth, I'm not sure Drake Jones left on the best of terms, as he stated in a recent interview. He didn't give the specifics though; too bad.

i read that article too and im pretty sure the princess had to buy the stuff.

and on the whole DLX not paying their riders enough, though i dont know the real financial situation there Id assume they likely arent paying their riders what they deserve.  It seems like in skateboarding the board sponsor isnt where pros are getting the biggest checks, rather they get a rep for riding on that team and can make more money off of other sponsors because of that rep.  Take girl where J Casanova said they only pay 3 grand a month for everybody (and dont pay royalties).  Considering theyre the worlds best selling board company that number doesnt seem like much.  I also heard Baker pays less than most board companies for their riders.  The fucked up part is its usually bigger (core not corporate) companies that pay their riders little ,knowing their strong position in skateboarding.

i've got some friends who have been working for deluxe for upwards of 10 years if not longer. when i was living with very limited funds they would occasionally help me out with some product to keep the stoke alive. completely unasked for.

when i moved back to sf  nearly 3 years ago my board got ganked at the richmond skatepark while i was taking a photo. darin (the team manager for real) grabbed some wheels outta the van and so i could go trade them in for some trucks.

biggs, one of the main filmers over there, let a grip of us dirty north carolina skateboarders crash in his room in sf for a week while he was outta town. that's some trust.

if ya guys read this thanks turan, biggs, and darin for being so kind.
