I've been trying my best as of late to skate only Lakai's. The shoes are so much better now that they are fully in the Girl camp. New factory is making really great shoes.

Those look really good, after i'm done the Cons/Hufs I have now i'm going to try my hardest to skate only Lakai as well.  They've been putting out quality stuff the last few seasons.

coming from somebody who works at a skateshop, this kind of sucks, because janoskis are one of our biggest sellers... oh well, people will still  buy the quick strikes i'm sure.

this,  I'm not sure how the process could be integrated to stores.  so they're going to be the ones missing out.

The other concern is that features like the 'cork insole' wont have the heel cushioning and the coloured suedes and sole rubbers wont be of the same quality as that of the original 'SB' Janoski.

Are we seeing the reverse engineering of a skate shoe into the casual market?

Seems like something that would be for a domestic US market only though.  So theres hope for us Australians . 

im sure shops will be fine because the nike id's are really expensive and are mainly in the market for sneaker collectors. kids will still be coming into shops buying the regular janoski's

I would say the exact opposite, why would sneaker heads be interested in shoes that anyone can buy?  Isn't collecting rare sneakers and colour ways their whole deal?  Nothing exclusive about a shoe anyone can create on the Nike site.  Kids are the ones who will be interested in making fucked up colour ways.

I have these on deck! I've had a few pairs from the old factory and they were sick so I can't wait to try these out. And whoever called it the "lakai pledge" that is fucking funny/great! We really need people to start supporting skateboard companies or were honestly only going to be left with 3 shoe brands and shop decks.

apparently the janoski on nike ID thing will only be for a limited time. not sure if that changes much, but its not going to be forever.

yeah man i am with you. i go through shoes once a month on average. i only rely on sale racks, thrift stores, 2nd hand stores, internet and bro deals for shoes.

same here.  70 should be two shoes standard and three shoes if i'm lucky.

Off topic but, has the quality seriously improved since they moved factories. I remember having some old manchesters which ripped incredibly quick but skated like a dream. The manchester XLK's I got also skated great but ripped within on day. If the quality really has impoved thta much I might also take the pledge.

fuck, im ashamed to admit i actually quite like those janoski rip offs that lakai are doing never bought a pair of janoskis but am sorely tempted to go nuts and get myself a personalised pair. white on white on white?
and regarding the issue of stefans royalties, i thought this had been covered in an interview with the man himself? and he actually got his royalties reduced from about 8% of sales to 3%??

Yes! Quality is way up! Soles are both made of better material and the grooves have all been made deeper so they last longer. Uppers are being made of better quality suede and synthetics.

My first pair of Carrol 5's (old factory) lasted a week, my last pair lasted 6 (new factory)!! I'm so happy to see them getting things right over there! I will admit, I've skated a bunch of Nike, Cons and Adidas. The reason being, they were simply better than anything else out there, but now I feel really confident in how good Lakai's are!

Huf is another brand that has really stepped there game up! My last pair of the Mateo lasted quite a bit.

Thats what i was hoping. But i doubt they will do it. The whole shoe is one solid piece, besides the tiny piece on the heel.  Not many options, the swoosh, sole, and one piece upper.
