So I'll buy a set of thunder 147 hollow trucks soon and wanted to try bones bushings with them.
Problem is, after reading a few threads about them, that iam unsure wether i go with the medium or hard ones, since I totaly skate medium, not soft nor hard.. I read that the medium ones appear to be really soft when running them without the bottom cup, thats true? So should I rather get that hard ones? Or just try out the mediums, but I don't want to blow my money on bushings that do not fit my skating in the end..

i like to skate medium too, bought some medium bones few months ago, they were nice during a month then i had to tight them each session to have the turning i like on my indys 139, finally i reput the stock bushings to have a decent turn
i just bought some hards bones 3 weeks ago and they're perfect for the moment...

I got theeves with bones as standard. I also prefer a "medium" turn(?) but I ended up putting hard in the bottom (teehee) and medium in the top. Works absolutely perfect, for me

I had the same problem with bones mediums, they skated great but after a few days of skating they started to get softer and softer and I would have to tighten them every other day or so to get them back to that true medium feel that I like that they had when they were fresh from the box.

Because of this, I tried a set of the bones hards one time and they were a little too hard for me. I tried them on with no washers and even then they still felt too stiff, just couldn't dig it. I heard after you skate them for a week or so they start to get softer and eventually they get more of a medium-tight feel to them, but I just didn't have the patience for that.
Because of this, I just stick with the mediums and crank them down a few turns after they start to get soft.

Yup, I do the exact same thing with my Indys. They still turn like they did when I had mediums on top and bottom but I don't get wheel bite nearly as often as I used to. I wonder what it would be like with hard on top and medium on bottom.

With theeves, you gotta go hard on the bottom if you don't want to blow your bushings out in a week. Can't wait til they fix that. I just got some new all black bones hards and they feel much softer than the white hard ones they sent me a few months ago.

ive been riding thunders for the last 2 years and a few months a go came up on some theeve csx trucks for really cheap, so i decided to give them a go and this is the exact reason as to why i hated them..within 4 days the bottom bushing was blown out and they rode and turned like shit after, switched back to my old set of thunders after a week.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine who skates theeves. The bottom bushing for both trucks ended up squishing out. What's the point of including bones bushings with your trucks if theyre just gonna squish out?

The idea someone mentioned earlier about using mediums for the top bushings and hards for the bottom bushings sounds pretty interesting. I might just have to try that out one of these days on a set of Indys.

Best way to fix this is switch out the pivot cups with Khiro small hard pivot cups and it'll prevent em from blowing out.

I can second this. I've put khiro small pivot cups in my last 3 theeves and they've all served me well. You do have to replace the pivot cup after 6 months or so though.

which ones are the blue ones?

anyway i got those and they are amazing. zero break in time with independent trucks.

if you skate indy's, soft or medium bones bushing will be a world of difference to begin with.
