Converse, weird slippery plasticy feeling outsole?

I was looking at a pair of Converse skate shoes the other day at Ross, and I noticed that the outsole was half grippy rubber and the other half was hard, slippery and plasticly feeling. Has anyone skated a pair with this outsole? How well do they skate with the slick outsole? I can't imagine that they would be that great for skating or gripping onto the board. Why would Converse even use an outsole like that?

I don't think they're skate converse. I have the same exact one, the models are called CVO Ox Skids or something like that. They're definitely not made for skating.

it looks like they have felt on part of them. my supra rep told me they put felt on the sole of some of their shoes so import them as "slippers" as apposed to "shoes" to cut costs as importing a slipper theres a lesser fee and theres some percentage of the sole that has to slide or something.

Nah, they definitely were skate converse. I specifically remember seeing the word "skateboarding" on the inside of the tongue.
