 Shocked

"Where do you want to be in 10 years?
Gosh... If my buddy Edgar Barrera and Chase turn pro, I'd love to be their assistant managers. Help them get the right sponsors. I really feel like I could see myself being that kind of figure in the skateboard industry -- where I'd be managing a group of kids who just really rip. I think that'd be really fun."

So basically he is Nyjah's bitch.

Great to know.

And, HBO is never going to make a series about his life.

So who the fuck cares about any of this?

Thanks for sharing this with us. Try going to your nearest skate park and telling the highlights of this article to people you don't really know.

He has a great job. It is sick he is able to go through life continually being involved with his friends and their skateboarding.

Let's say you grew up skating with a friend, let's call him Bob. Bob got really good at skateboarding and had footage / photos but had no idea what to do with them. You on the other hand knew how to post things to the internet so you helped Bob do that.  Now you, Bob and your friends get flown around the world to skate.

I say bravo to those who are able to be involved with skateboarding as much as possible and make a living at doing what they love.

I wasn't able to read the whole thing. Probably would've been better if Nieratko did the interview

so you exploit your friend Bob instead of taking the 20 minutes to show him how to post a photo or upload a video?

sorry, i know theres a lot more to it on a pro level, but that analogy sucked

I'm pretty sure that there are more than a couple skaters out there with agents/managers etc.  It's just one side to one type of skating.  I don't think it's strange at all, considering dudes have energy drink and cell phone sponsors.

I know P. Rods manager/ assistant is Heath Brinkley the old Etnies tm, it makes sense to have a manager if you have a lot of shit on your plate, but i couldn't imagine that every pro skater is going to have a manager in the future

Nyjah can do what he wants, though at this point, any coverage I have seen of "action sports" agents has made them appear to be the douchiest of the douchey. Of course, I suppose having a skateboarder do that is better than a random hack, if such a profession must exist.

A decade ago, skaters would be hyped to get insurance and have their job let them off to tour occasionally.
