But if he has an actual "media manager" that he hired to streamline his marketability, that's pretty lame. I'm not trying to spark the whole skateboarding has changed debate, but it just doesn't sit right with me. But that's just my opinion.

Managers/assistants in skating aren't super new though. I remember reading an article on P. Rod in one of the early copies of TSM where he mentions having a manager that he sends to his non-skate sponsors to haggle and settle contracts with. And wasn't there an article a few months back where some dudes at SPoT were helping skaters invest their money properly? Is it messed up to have an investment manager?

Let's say you grew up skating with a friend, let's call him Bob. Bob got really good at skateboarding and had footage / photos but had no idea what to do with them. You on the other hand knew how to post things to the internet so you helped Bob do that.  Now you, Bob and your friends get flown around the world to skate.  

I say bravo to those who are able to be involved with skateboarding as much as possible and make a living at doing what they love.

I know P. Rods manager/ assistant is Heath Brinkley the old Etnies tm, it makes sense to have a manager if you have a lot of shit on your plate, but i couldn't imagine that every pro skater is going to have a manager in the future

Because we got the X Games and shortly after Jackass and then everyone knew about us.  If you're not into that type of skating, don't watch it.  Not that big of a deal.  I think that shit is super corny, but I don't think it "ruined skateboarding" or whatever.
