I don't know nick personally, I've met him once for a brief second in providence rhode island and his hands were massive. Anyway aside from that, I was in Colorado a couple years back and somewhere along the lines I ran into some kid that was best friends with Jordan ( nicks little brother ).  This was right before he got kicked off dc and this kid basically explained to me that nick was knowingly neglecting his career and that he more or less dislikes skating, and is or was completely over it, he explained a bit more and I remember him ending the conversation with " he's always been a depressed motherfucker". And he also mentioned that nicks had a rough life like you guys said, but anyway I hope this is enough for him to make some changes, hes beast and I got nothin but respect for what hes done on a skateboard, hope he gets well soon

Addiction is a fucked part of life, gone through my own battles and lost what should have been some good years because of it. Still paying for the mistakes and still struggle with it, and genuinely hope dude makes it back for good, its not easy .

A lot of employers nowadays are understanding about addiction. Mine has a policy where if you initiate attempts to recover they offer additional assistance, beyond what insurance offers, they approve FMLA and temp disability while in treatment, its pretty cool. Hopefully his employers/sponsors see things the same way. People usually need a couple chances and a lot of support to get straight, chances are he's used some of his up already but the Real team with his name but no photo says a lot and if any sponsor will be there to help its DLX, the bigger question is will this be enough fof him to take the support and help himself. I hope so, I'd like to see more footy of Nick D, too much raw talent there.

Not to make light of this situation but the mention of this drug reminds me of this one time I was at this girls house and she offered me an Oxy. I was pretty drunk on whiskey which means I said "YES PLEASE!" to her generosity and then the next thing you know I'm rolling around on this shag carpet listening to Billy Holiday watching this girl wind her butt around in a see through nighty. I guess she wanted to make things happen but I also guess she was unaware of the fact that when she was changing into said nighty I took more Oxy and so was left pretty useless in that department. Woke up face down on an air mattress the next morning and she was gone to her really white collar Canadian journalism career or something. I felt sort of itchy.

I worded that poorly.  My issue is with the fact that they are anonymously (no byline on the story) running what is basically unsubstantiated gossip.  Anonymous sources are one thing, but generally they are at least named as 'a friend of the victim' or 'a DLX employee speaking anonymously' as opposed to just 'sources.'

It seems like when they edited the article to include the quotes from his mom they also removed the OD headline, for whatever that's worth.  Still kind of weak to have the unsubstantiated claims of OD in the first paragraph, especially considering how many pros use drugs and how infrequently their dirty laundry gets aired out (unless they chose to do so voluntarily- ie Epicly Laterds or Baker ads or interviews or whatever.)  Skateboard media has always seemed to observe somewhat of a code of silence about personal lives of pros.  Imagine if TWS published breaking news that BA is gay, according to 'sources.'  Nahmean?
