It said that Carter, Hill and Castrucci will be staying in Ohio so perhaps they will still keep a small operation or headquarters in Ohio but moving the majority to California. I do remember Rob saying he wasn't going to change anything and Chris Carter saying he didn't want the company to move out of Ohio, this is pretty fucking lame.

I'm from Ohio, I can only imagine how fucking bummed the skaters in Dayton are. I'm extraordinarily pissed that this is happening. Being Ohio based was one of the things that made DNA different. Carter, Hill and Castrucci better have some pull with Dyrdek to make sure the headquarters stays in Ohio. Which sadly, it looks like it won't.

Mark my words, one year from now you will have AWS decks in Walmart and Habitat shirts in Target. DNA will be about as "core" as Hawk Skateboards and Air Speed shoes. Never forget, money corrupts. Dill and AVE will be begging for Burton when those two tools Dyrdek is bringing in start giving them "advice".

Who do you think the first rider to jump ship will be: Dill, AVE, Grant, Dylan? Those guys could go anywhere they want.

...but still has to put in two cents.
As a Middle Westerner, I am bummed by this development. ? As a longtime AWS fan and supporter, I did want to believe that Dyrdek taking over would be better than Burton running things. ? But in reality, in a few years, the evidence will probably show that Burton was the only thing keeping it all together. ? Although an "outsider" to skateboarding with some at times controversial quota requirements for shops who carry their products, it has essentially stood the test of time in its respective field and seemed to be successful in applying its success to skateboarding. ? Burton most likely had long term goals for keeping AWS alive if only just to maintain whatever level made it an appealing purchase from the beginning. ? Whereas Dyrdek appears to be coming in with a "new money" or "kid in a candy store" approach...
I really liked Dill's quote in a recent-ish Thrasher where he said he liked riding for a Midwest company...the outliers. ?
re: first to jump ship: Dylan is a streetleague-er now...he no longer has a soul to save, therefore, what does he care if AWS loses its soul
Now, more than ever we need companies like Palace, Polar, (___insert your local or favorite "micro" or "craft" board company here____), and Roger...

everything Dyrdek have done is the best for skateboarding.
Fantasy Factory - the best Indoor Skatepark - make all my Fantasys coming true and giving possiblities
to every Skate in LA, one Block side by side to the berrics.
His MTV Show - giving Skateboarding a good name - or him public relation as an Skateboarder.
Street League - the fairest Contest of all time - if you get sponserd by one of the main sponsors.
his California Skatepark engagement, spending money from his own skatepark fundation
to make sure his business partner got the job for building plazas all over the city for better money.
Buying Alien Workshop - he will make the best Company in Histroy of Skateboarding
out of that Alien Workshop- with the best pro rider of all time Rob Dyrdek.
He need to buy Alien from Burton, if not he lost Pro Skateboarder Status!
His whole Business Concept is about beeing a legendary Pro Skater.
Bring it to LA and make it BIG in the market.
im sure he is good heart, but long time ago he has sold his heart for money

Nah I'm hearing it is. I think this article is a bit misleading, it seems like they are expanding from Ohio to California not shutting down in Ohio to move to California. Being affiliated with those other brands is pretty lame, especially for The Workshop, I really hope Rob knows what the fuck he's doing but I don't know...he might make Alien more money and more profitable I just hope he doesn't kill everything awesome about it in the process. I don't have much faith, I honestly think Rob is more lucky than anything, I see his wealth as an unsustainable bubble that will pop as soon as skateboarding becomes less popular again.

I feel like the bath soaps, etc will be marketed under a more "green" Habitat.
Habitat would be a pretty legit soap company name...
This is gonna bring back the mass Asian Alien bootleg years of the 90's...Alien became an embaressment then and will become one again.

Ahm. So people always associated burton with bad but the truth was always that it gave DNA giant distribution channels that it never had and it taught everyone how to work on a global scale. You cant grow that from scratch and expect to make a profit. Especially in 2012. So if youre not owned by burton and you lose those distribution channels what do you do? Buy into another company with giant distribution channels and subsidize your growth. This is the cheapest route to go. I'm sure the contract is written out in a certain way so they can opt out of la jolla group in the future and have a giant buyback and by that time they'll no longer need outside help to do what they do. This is also good for habitat and reflex. Just giant learning opportunities for everyone involved. As long as the dayton offices arent fucked with this is a great idea. Whos to say itll be target? Maybe burgdorf goodman and bloomingdales? Or more likely dicks sporting goods with Habitat as the giant global brand and alien workshop distributed on a more specialty basis. Would you be mad if DLX and crailtap also made the same decisions after DNA does it? Nobody ever has faith and everyone always expects DNA to fail. Its about the bigger picture. Just watch what happens over the next year and pass judgement then. You guys dont want major companies taking a chunk out of libtech and other generic garbage can deck distributors?

Thats because i think creature can be a lot bigger than it is now and be a way more important company. they do so many things right. People dont really think about creature. They can change that. If you have the best riders people pay attention. If you just keep letting all your best riders go to other companies you cant be "that company" thats doing it.

I was just thinking of that, when Workshop was almost synonymous with the rave scene and skateboarders looked down on it as a company. Kind of funny since raves are back now.

Dyrdek says, "DNA will operate from LJG?s Irvine, Calif. offices, while DNA founders will remain in Dayton, Ohio."
this is uncomfortably ambiguous.
I remember skating the Burton bowl (open to public) in Burlington, Vermont once and being psyched on how Burton was exhibiting Alien Workshop in their Headquarters. Yet, I was even more psyched when hearing Dyrdek bought the Workshop... this recent development makes me feel as though I may have romanticized the whole thing.
I understand that DNA cannot adhere indefinitely to the emotions of those who post on SLAP, yet, this move may carry too much weight. Ideally, I would like to think that Burton provided stability, balance, and more opportunities for revenue to Alien Workshop and Habitat, without subjugating the Sovereign Sect's authenticity... although Dyrdek seems to be doing just what Burton wasn't. Rob is the People's Republic of China and Dill, A.V.E, and longtime loyal supporters (or consumers to comply with the article) of A.W are Tibet... and I have a hard time even writing this because I don't want to believe it; I want to believe in what Dyrdek is doing. Just like Dill seemed to be.
Burton was one single corporation... a pretty sick one at that... however, this article basically explains that a diareahha of monster energy drink contaminated brains from a collective of several corporations will now have authority over Alien Workshop.
On one side of the spectrum, President Dill and the DNA founders will continue working as Alien's true compass of Alien while Dyrdek and his investors will simply support DNA financially... ex. being able to send the team to on trips to film, etc. without Greg Hunt having to stress over the costs making video.
One the other side of the spectrum, Alien Workshop becomes diagnosed with Zoo York Cancer. In that case: fook.
it would be analogous to putting commercials throughout Photosynthesis.
P.S (^Berra would probably do that for real)

Jesus Fuck....Lets see what Robbie D does first before everybody starts talking about how gay it is. Everyone on here gets way to emotionally involved. Its skateboarding......you can do it by yourself and you buy what decks/shoes/clothing you want. Dyrdek will do it right give the man a second.....Kalis respond.......
