I don't get why they can only have one in between 139 and 159. Is it a manufacturing thing?

Was this from their facebook? Social media polls are gonna be the outcome of whether or not they discontinue the 149s? If they indeed stop making 149er's, then I will be in a heap of trouble as I skate 8.5 decks. Better stock up on a pair or two in case they go through with this...

There should be more options or at least a "none of the above." They should have 8, 8.25, 8.5, and 8.75. If they can remake 109s then they can add a much needed 8.25.

Worst case though, 8.375 trucks skate well on an 8.5. That's essentially the axle width of the current Thunder 149's and they feel great on 8.5-8.6'ish decks. If they added an 8.375 they wouldn't be helping the many 8.25 deck riders and they'd be taking from the 8.5 riders. Doesn't make any sense.

Also, can you post a link? I didn't see this on their facebook but maybe its just not showing through the Android widget. Maybe enough people calling bullshit will make them reconsider the options. Thanks man.

Also that's a really good point about the 109s. I mean they're cool and all but I think a lot more people would be stoked about 8.25 Indys than some gimmicky little cruiser trucks.

Anyone noticed that the metal seems to be softer these days? I ground the living fuck out of my last pair in 6 months and it used to take me about a year.

Yep, can't they just keep 139s and 149s, and make something (8.25) in-between? I'd ride them.

what the fuck is going on here?
I sell so many 139s and 149s respectively, this doesn't make sense and could potentially piss alot of people off.

Get rid of the 8.75? Is it me or is that an odd size?

i just got an 8.25 and am riding 139's.  i'm diggin it.   8.25 deck with indies is a conundrum.  seems like either could work but i would take my trucks being slightly smaller over seeing bolts

The difference between 149s and 159s is very minimal, I don't agree with changing 149s but can see why they might. The gap between 139 and 149 is larger than 149 to 159. It would make sense to shift it slightly and push the 8.5ers into the 159s.

Just got a pair of 149 today.  I feel like it was made for 8.25 decks...the bolt is almost perfectly in line with the edge of the board.

a little off topic, but for some odd reason, the bushings on my new indy's don't squeak at all.  This has never happened to me before.

I ride an 8.25 with 139s but have always thought about moving up. I kind of like the idea of an 8.25 but after hearing the comments here I think my next pair of indys will be 149. At least to give it a try.

I have been a indy guy for a while, but I've always been interested in ACE trucks. Anybody ride those? Thoughts?

I wanted to, but I don't skate high trucks, and it seems they don't have a low version of their trucks.  It looks good though, the kingpin is not sticking out, and it has a skinny construction

edit: here, from another thread

I remember reading that when Indy originally came out they fucked up the metric conversion and just have kept it that way ever since.
Also I would be interested in trying aces cause they have an 8.25 size but I have heard they are just really loose trucks no matter how much you tighten them. I ride indys(139) and like them a bit lose but I get really bad wheel and I'm concerned that if I got aces I wouldn't be able to ride them due to wheel bite, anyone with aces mind dropping some knowledge on this for me?

i ride aces sometimes. with the front truck wobbly. i get less wheel bite with the aces then i did / do with any other truck. i dunno why that is.
maybe its just me though. but yes, aces will never be tight. but you could put bones hard in them, and keep the bottom washer. that would be pretty tight.. for aces. part of the reason (i think) people say they feel loose is because of their very tight turning radius.. when your not use to it.. it can catch you off guard..

Anyone noticed that the metal seems to be softer these days? I ground the living fuck out of my last pair in 6 months and it used to take me about a year.

I definitely noticed this. My last Indy's stage VII lasted years, literally, and there's still grinding surface on them. Most of the grinding I do nowadays is on metal coping and metal edged ledges so trucks last longer. However, the stage 10's I got in late 2011 have grinding grooves, right where the trucks sit on the coping for frontside 50-50's, which a do a lot of as a go-to setup grind). I'm actually seeing the same on my Thunders, which are under a month old. The little grind grooves are already starting. Makes me wonder if Ermico has begun using lower grade alloy. Wouldn't be surprised, gotta do what you can to keep cost competitive with the Chinese.

Even though they're wearing faster than they used to I'm still backing them though, both Indy and Thunder are great trucks and it's worth it to me to sacrifice a couple months of life for the feel and performance you get out of 'em.

I wonder if there's a difference in durability between standard silver trucks and the forged models. If the forged last longer I might consider switching, getting used to new trucks is a bitch.

But if you can get used to standard height indies the normal height aces shouldn't be too terrible

I tried buying 139's for my 8.125 board, the shop dude aegued saying 149's are the right size for my board.so I bought 149's and my wheels stick out, its not a big deal I've just never ridden a board with the wheels out like that, a little distracting
