Dude living it on the fullest. You are young only once.

This is correct. And while I may not agree with his fashion sense and all the modeling stuff, he backs it up on the board. If he sucked at skating it might be a little easier to talk shit on him, but the dude is gnarly as fuck. Other gnarly fuckers like Arto and AVE also say the kid is insane. Ripping at skating and banging model chicks while getting paid shitloads. He wins.

justin bieber is to 12 year old girls as 'team handsome' is to the slap forum.

Because now its more possible than ever before.

and to use a nature metaphor. the more diverse the gene pool,  the tougher the breed.

skateboarding needs to have all types in it to survive.

Yeah bros, the sky is falling and skateboarding is definitely losing that tough masculine edge that it used to have back in the day when it was all about throwing on a pair of Carhartts, biting off a chaw of Beechnut and sessioning in between rebuilding your transmission, chopping down lumber and pinching broads asses.

This ain't ever been no got damn flamboyant fashion show.  Not ever in the history of skateboarding...

Nope.  Never.

These comparisons to '80s skaters are stupid. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe those dudes were in fucking Vogue magazine. They weren't dressing like pussy ass models either.

Seriously?  It's because skateboarding grew and allowed big ass corporations in.  Skaters weren't in Vogue in the 80s because different shit was popular and skating was much smaller, as were coverage and media outlets.

Hosoi wore pink spandex.  Just because you weren't around doesn't mean it didn't happen.

If you don't like it, don't watch it or support it, there are plenty of companies out there doing something different.

Or, you know, you could just keep crying about it.

pretty sure Hosoi was in Vogue at some point, and also did runway shows. oh, and a lot of dogtown era guys also.  and lots of NY dudes in the mid-90s post-KIDS.  Katherine Hepburn was even into it in the 50's/60s.   so yeah, pretty much every era, no?

For all we know there were skaters in Vogue magazine before the digital age. I know when I was getting into skating I knew dick about skater's personal lives, what clubs they went to, what models they were fucking, and what brand of liquor they preferred. Now we have insta, web clips every two days, and the day in the lifes aren't in 411VM and centered around skating. This shit has been happening, you just weren't paying attention.

Hosoi most definitely was on a level similiar to the Dylans and Alex Olsons of today. Hawk was in EVERY magazine regardless of how dorky the dude truly is...

Totally forgot about that great photo of Hosoi shirtless on a runway.  Trying to find it now.

Hosoi in pink spandex just doesn't seem as lame to me. Whatever. I started skating 14 years ago and this kind of shit was the last thing i would have ever expected to happen.

"Some of the best skateboarding ever done"Huh The dude is very good, but that is a ridiculous thing to say.

Does it really concern some of you what pros/ams do off the board? And is Dylan in Vogue really surprising?

concern no however this will mean more ppl will dress like him meaning more wishing i was born 10 yrs earlier.. skateboarding and monern culture just got soft.. feminist hollywood has finally crossed over into skating.. with shows like the big bang theory and how i met ur mother and reality and game shows versing men and women its no suprise our culture of skateboarding will accept a male model skater or a dill and olson homo erotic pic with a snake or angry tweets or team handsome.. justin beiber. kyle james skating the banks in tims is a thing of the past and dylan in vogue is not surprising hes a great looking guy Wink
