Powerviolence

Anyone else into it? I wouldn't mind some recommendations. I've known about a few pv bands for ages but only really got into it lately. I've been listening to Dropdead, Charles Bronson, Infest, Crossed Out, and also some of the newer ones like Extortion, ACxDC and Ceremony. If anyone could recommend some other sweet bands it would be much appreciated

This is such an odd genre. It's kinda unnecessary and I generally think it exists just because of the name. You'll get a bunch of nerds arguing that certain shit is fastcore or hardcore or grind etc. That being said, if you dig those bands you listed, check out two of the godfathers- Spazz and Man Is The Bastard. Some great newer ones are Endless Blockade (which is basically now, the AWESOME Column of Heaven) Weekend Nachos, Hummingbird of Death, Sea Of Shit and Socially Retarded.

Yeah, I guess it could be. The definition is pretty loose.
Older Magrudergrind is a good example.
Great call on Iron Lung and Despise You as well.

Powerviolence is a genre that I can't stand 95% of, but all most of the bands I'd recommend (Gasp, Despise You, Crossed Out, Man Is the Bastard) have already got their mention. Here are a couple more though:
Fuck on the Beach - Never No Skin Fuck

Apartment 213 - John Wayne Gacy

Friends of mine, have a few splits coming out soon (hopefully). Wish they still played shows.

Also, here's an article that sums the genre up pretty accurately

No, they've got elements of a lot of shit, but they're pretty far from straight up grind.

Weekend nachos rips as well as despise you. Always liked gulf coast stuff: knuckle scraper, 50/50, hatred surge etc

I think Iron Lung is t best current PV band. They mix up fast and powerful parts rather than just straight fast. Their on time side project, Dead Language is top notch as well. You should also check out Scapegoat and Vaccine.

IL also has THE BEST stage banter of all time.
Good call on Scapegoat and Dead Language as well. Both are sick bands.
