vhs tape is just vx footage converted to vhs im pretty sure. same with politic.palace films on vhs which is way different. and im sure others do too. also gnaughty was cell phones and digital cameras, not vhs.dunno about gnar gnar

I do find it odd that there is still so much hate for DSM wood. Shit has gotten so much better. The shapes are still kinda weird and the resin 7 are way better than the water based.

Actually, the waterbased still kinda suck.

let me start this off by saying i'm a big fan of Steve Durante and Brian Brown. i've dug their skating for years and i'm stoked that Politic. is able to sponsor them (which means we get to enjoy seeing these dudes rip again.) the ams are sick and i hope they pick up some more rad people to round out the team.

here's the reality though: Palace didn't invent a whole new aesthetic or anything, but you have to be a blind fool to not notice that Politic. is blatantly ripping off Palace in many ways (the triangle logo tee is exactly the same, the VHS shit in the promo, the images they have on their site/facebook, etc.) let's be real here, they are straight up jacking their vibe.

i want Politic. to succeed and for them to find their own voice, but i do not approve of thievery. i cannot stand when a musician, artist, graphic/clothing designer, architect, whatever, steals from someone else. biting is bullshit and i will never condone it. you guys defending Politic. know they are ripping off Palace, but you want to support them so bad that you try to overlook it and defend it. stop that nonsense. they jackin and YOU know it.

and i don't fuck with that "they're barely starting out, give them some time to find their footing" BS. look at younger brands like Blood Wizard, Roger, Polar, Stacks, Magenta, Welcome. they have their own feel and are doing their own thing. you don't need to straight up copy what someone else is doing. create your own identity; start your own trends.

pretty much what smokecrack said. i know there's a lot of biting in the skate industry, but this is pretty blatant and biting something thats currently in its prime. the thing that got me was the stupid vhs intro in that clip. as pointed out, palace isnt the only company to use vhs, but seeing it now immediately makes me think of palace since its such a big part of their image. having that clip as the first thing people see from your company is a horrible look. also, it was completely unnecessary as nothing else in it is vhs. i hope politic can come into its own, but this isnt a great start
