john mcgeoch from magazine, visage, siouxie and the banshees, and PiL is a hell of a guitarist. his playing on the banshees "JuJu" is probably my favorite effort of his. i dont know much about guitar, but i feel like he had a really unique approach to his playing but never sounded show-offy.

^ What johnny ramone did is what he invented.  He played chords incesently, repetitivly  to a unique effect that had not been done before him.  Great tone   If you invent a sound youre a great guitarist.

Agreed. He only played downstrokes and he played entire live shows that way at incredible speeds with lots of chord changes. Plus he played barre chords, not power chords, contrary to popular belief. His playing is very difficult to duplicate if you ever try to play along to one of their live renditions.

Favorites:

Johnny Ramone
Chuck Berry
Link Wray
Bob Quine
Nokie Edwards
Don Wilson
Bo Diddley
Wayne Kramer
Scotty Moore
