That's a load of bollocks, if I may borrow a phrase.  I don't read the Spanish press, but Sid Lowe makes them seem pretty harsh in Football Weekly.  That shouldn't matter though,  he's not getting paid 7 figures to read the newspaper.  Everyone involved with the club loves him.  Even when Chelsea scored I couldn't even hear "Carefree" because the Barca fans reacted so positively.  Why would you not want to be in that chair working with the best talent in the world?  David Villa is coming back and he was guaranteed a huge transfer budget (how that could be is unfathomable).  It's ultimately up to the Pep's and Tevez's of the world to make their own decisions but I'd have a hard time sipping cocktails and getting fat if I was in that position.

Pep has always said he wouldn't stay at Barca. He wants a new challenge I guess. I don't think he's quitting because of one bad season(by Barca's standards), He just felt it was time.

Maybe He'll wait long enough to take over Arsenal when Wenger retires, wishful thinking.

Having the best talent in the world at one of the world's biggest clubs mean that you have the highest expectations of any manager in the world as well as one of the busiest schedules. After what Barca has done the last few years people expect them to literally win everything, and like I said, the pressure and personal attacks from the spanish media are like nothing I've seen in any other country. It's all well and good to say that this shouldn't matter, but it does; no-one is impervious to that kind of pressure and he deserves a break from it. Plus, Barca have already had 3 years of domination and some key players are starting to age (puyol, xavi) so I doubt Pep thinks he's ever going to get back to the pinnacle of achievement at this particular club.

I don't know, it just seems obvious to me that the stress of such a high profile job would get to you after a while. He said himself that he didn't feel like he had enough energy and enthusiasm to motivate the players anymore, so I think in both respects he did the right thing.

You cannot see City dropping points to QPR at Home so it really comes down to getting the job done up at Newcastle this weekend.

I'm optimistic about this Podolski signing.

Arsenal needs to sign a physically imposing Yaya Toure type of player who can boss shit around and brush opponents off the ball with ease and make threatening and dangerous attacking runs. Diaby was supposed to be that guy I guess but his career looks to be just about over sadly.

Actually, I'm sure every club wants to sign a Yaya Toure style player, that guy's presence in the Man City squad has been really important.

The funny thing is, they already have 2 "holding midfielder" type of players, neither of which have all the characteristics they would need to be as effective as a Yaya Toure in that role. Song is physically pretty strong but his mobility and awareness aren't as good which leads to him getting dispossessed quite a bit. Plus he likes to go forward too much to maintain his positioning in the middle of the park. Arteta on the other hand is very smart with the way he handles the ball in midfield and can evade challenges well,  but doesn't have the motivation to go run with the ball into the opponent's half, as well as being physically smaller than Song.

Between the two of them they do a pretty decent job though. I actually think Arsenal should try to reinforce their defense (especially full back positions) and buy another striker before addressing the midfield thing.

I think what Arsenal needs the most is depth or players who don't get injured.  When they have a full strength team they can go toe-to-toe with City and they can put 5 past Spurs and Chelsea.  If Arsenal didn't have so many injuries they would be near the top of the table.   Say they get Lavezzi, Gotze, and depth in the back...would they really be that far off from the title?  Plus Wilshire is coming back next season.  Ryo and Ox look like players for the future too.   Oh who am I kidding, Same old Arsenal, always building for next year, lacking a fearless leader, always going out injured.  Hopeless!  Wink

amazing last day of the premier league, as I write this, United will win it, Arsenal will get 3rd and Bolton are going down, can't believe city are losing to a 10 man QPR, incredible, i'm a cautious United fan and I still think City will beat QPR but I've got hope now!
