We have a big ass tree in our backyard and twice in as many days a squirrel has gone out to far on a branch only to have it snap and he falls about twenty feet and slams into the ground.  Both times my beagle has been out there I'm pretty sure he thinks it's raining food.

Nah, he just chases them, I don't know if he would know what to do if he caught one.  He'd probably be more interested in rolling in their poop.

i watched my dog coner a squirrel recently, shes about 55 lbs and shoudl be able to handle herself, the squirrel made some noise and she was over it hard, ran away looking over her shoulder

That's how our retriever/shepherd mutt is with our cat.  He wants to play with the cat so bad, but the cat is over it super quick and turns into a ball of razorblades.  Our dog yelps and always give me the "holy shit!" look.

Last week i saw what looked like squirrel rape.

I was just sitting outside having a smoke when something in the tree caught me eye, two squirrels chasing each-other. It was a quite acrobatic display of jumping between branches, rapidly climbing the tree, and death defying leaps to lower branches. After about 5 minutes the rapist squirrel managed to jump on the other squirrel, the victim then lost its grip and is now dangling off a branch with the other squirrel gripping onto it humping away. The victim clung on for dear life whilst being humped by the attacker, finally decided to let go of the branch, both squirrels came hurtling toward the ground and landed in a bush. This is where the full act of intercourse must have taken place as the bush was rustling and swaying for a few minutes before one squirrel walked away victorious.

Hey, maybe this is just how squirrels mate, i dont know.

I went to the grand canyon a few years back and was hiking there when some kiabab squirrels started bugging me for some food i was eating. Feeling charitable and somewhat annoyed, I threw a piece of bred away from the trail. Next thing I knew, two squirrels were rolling around the bread locked in a battle to the death. They rolled closer and closer to the wall and then show out into thin air and were never seen from again
