I am in the middle as well. As do love my 90's era but I am a huge fan of some odd shit like Waka and Juicy J which totally don't compliment that ol' fashion hip-hop style. I do love some of the kids like A$AP Rocky but I can still give to fucks about Lil B and Odd Future.
Hip-hop music has changed though and I agree there is still some gems out there but as a older cat, I just like relistening to my classics. It will happen to you guys one day too as hip-hop/rap evolves again. That's just how music is.

mongomaestro, i'm not saying that all this new "swaggot" shit that's coming out is somehow creatively superior to what was being done in 1995. i just appreciate how certain artists are trying to come out with their own sound right now instead of simply recycling a style that's been done and perfected so many times. Death Grips, Clams Casino, & Shabbazz Palaces are pushing hip-hop forward unlike ever before. you might also think that all of these newer guys aren't nice on the mic, but dudes like Danny Brown, Vince Staples, Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire, Speak, etc. can actually spit. you should also check out Reks, Maffew Ragazino, Action Bronson, Blu, & Roc Marciano if you want to hear some newer mc's who are pretty lyrical.
and i'm not completely over underground stuff, i just "grew out" of being a hip-hop head who only listens to that style. i embrace all sorts of shit and i like to post different types of rap in this thread. some i like, some i don't but i contribute because i think others might enjoy it.
i dig a lot of the music you guys post on here, so let's keep it going. (and if any of you ever need a link for something, lemme know)

i mean come on... that juicy j schit you just posted sounds like an illiterate 50Tyson, straight up...
and i feel obligate to state that when i say swaggot, i mean no disrespect to homosexual individuals... unless you are a swaggot azz mallrappin puppet pumpin that cb4 coonery...
heard most those names you dropped too... Reks and Roc arent really "new" emcees though... Blu dropped classic schit in 2007, but No York was way too incohesive imo... that edan verse is siccwiddit though...
danny brown surprises me one minute, then i have to write him off the next minute... lol...
i like some new schit too, but when it comes to most of this schit, the classics will always outshine....

I dont know man it doesn't seem like Kanye flippin his beat is gonna help him get any shine.
Cause now its like Kanye did a cover of the beat or somethin and Chop is just being excluded from the whole thing.

im dloading some album you posted. but, so far this deathgrip schit sounds like theyre pushing the boundaries of noisy waccness to be honest...
the butterfly group didnt strike me as phenomenal right away, but a hiphop crew on sub-pop always deserves a few listens... didnt sound weak so far, just didnt stand out as "some ill schit"...
a clams casino instrumental i saw on youtube surprised me... a pretty original sound i have to say... pretty good so far...
just my first impressions. thanks for the recomendations...
