Yes, I would definitely turn down free shit so I don't look like a kook hawking and wearing cheap shit made in China and other third world countries like Meister watches, stance socks, neff, and Markisa, etc....

You're truly an idiot if you're gonna mention "cheap shit made in China" and not have Nike on top of that list, and who gives a rats ass how many sponsors he has. At least the ones he has have legit skate teams and take Theotis and the rest of their teams traveling.

I mentioned Nike and Mountain Dew in my first post. Try passing reading comprehension 101 again.

shoes, board, clothing. all the other shit you should be able to buy yourself or find somehow; if you're in the industry i bet it isn't too hard to come up on a new pair of trucks or wheels every now and then

So you are saying if someone is on a board company like baker, they should buy their own indys?  That makes little sense.

According to this Ed had to buy his thunders

As mention before, he probably wants to give his family money. TK left Baker for that very reason. If he's helping others out, get all the sponsors you can.

Theotis Beasley

Sponsors: Baker, Nike SB, Altamont, Thunder, Spitfire, Active, Flik Griptape, Ashbury, Mountain Dew, Neff, Bones Swiss, Dakine, Skull Candy, Markisa, Stance Socks, Shake Junt, Meister Watches

17? Seriously?

"Hmmm, should I use Shake Junt griptape and wear my Neff sunglasses today or use Flik griptape and wear my Shake Junt sunglasses?"

http://www.skateparkoftampa.com/spot/sk.aspx?ID=1366

Mikey taylor said Theotis has 32 sponsors. so take that 17 number and double it!

This thread is pretty dumb. Although I do think it's pretty cool that Ishod has a cookie sponsor.

theotis is doing just fine and doesnt do retarded ads or bend over backwards for his sponsors - nobody stays in their prime in skateboarding forever and you should take in as much money as you can from it, so you can avoid working a day for the rest of your fucking life.

Honestly I would take the sponsors. I mean taking a kid into a candystore is one thing, but when its the candystore giving you free treats in exchange for you writing the name of the shop on your arm in a sharpie, come on.

Seriously man, theres both good and bad things to it. I could imagine a skater-owned construction company that catered to the masses. and secretly integrated skate spots into every piece of their design.

One of the only humans to prove that the "nice guys finish last" statement is BS. Crazy. I hope with all this sponsors, he's at least netting a couple of million. Would be dumb if he didn't even get paid a good amount for each sponsor but I would think Nike, Skull Candy and Moutain Dew alone would get him a million. Alot of the other sponors like Markisa just seem like sponsors where you get free gear.

If you want to turn skating into the farce that Nascar is and support it then that is your prerogative.

These clowns can have 19 sponsors and make fools of themselves, but the 99% of skaters will not support them.

You really don't think 1% of skaters are stoked on Theotis?

I like watching his parts and he seems like a decent guy.  AR, Grecko, and EE are backing him.  It's amazing how so many people on Slap are too core to turn down free stuff they like.  Why is it better to pay for stuff than get it for free?  For example- I enjoy Gatorade.  I spend about 8$ a week on Gatorade, or $400 a year.  If you could get that for free plus a big monthly check like Malto, why wouldn't you?

you can never have too many sponsors unless you feel your being "overworked" which is highly unlikely. let that man get free gear & cash his checks while takin care of his family. all you lames needa stop crying over somebody using skateboarding as a means to get rich. these niggas livin tha life!

If I had the opportunity to have lots of sponsors I surely would, but ONLY if I actually backed all of their products and image.  Otherwise I'd turn them down.  I love Gatorade, I drink it all the time, I would say yes to a Gatorade sponsor.  I would turn down a skull candy sponsor because their headphones are suck, their image sucks, they look stupid, and I wouldn't want to wear headphones.

It's threads like this that expose who has some life experience/perspective and who do not.  It may be sincere but until you really have to pay your way, you don't realize how much it (can) suck(s) to work and that if an opportunity came up like this, living comfortably trumps staying "core" for the sake of staying "core."

Cash those checks Theo, no reason not to.  Of all people, I feel he pulls it off best.  Nothing wrong with accepting money from large companies who wish to give you free product, unless that company is against what you stand for.

shoes, board, clothing. all the other shit you should be able to buy yourself or find somehow

lol, really?
