How is the San Fran Metal Scene?

I'm guessing the music scene (in general) is really good in SF, but I just wanted to hear from locals who go to metal shows often and see how it is out there. It seems to be growing from some of things I see online.
Last Summer I saw Space Vacation in Brooklyn. Awesome little metal band from SF.
I'm seeing they are playing tonight - so i just wanted to pass the world along to anyone who might be up for something new.
Here's the Flyer for Tonight's show - opening up for a Melvin's side project (White Shit) and Gallagher (hah!):
Here are some songs if you wanna give them a listen:

Anyway - I would be interested to hear anything else about SF nightlife in general. Thanks!

There's a shitload of good metal coming out of the bay area. Oakland has a lot as well. Aquarius Records is a little on the hipster side, but they have a lot of good shit.

The Unobstructed are pretty sick. Check em out on facebook. They posted some new songs from their upcoming E.P.

What exactly are you interested in. GRind, black metal, death etc? That would help to narrow it down. I'm a huge dork about this shit.

The unobstructed are pretty sick - nice recommendation, Sgt. Pepper.
Oh anything really, HATE!
I'm 27 - and I've just become pretty complacent in general with music since College. I mostly listen to Sports Talk Radio, Howard Stern and the CHILL station on Sirius. I love punk rock and metal, but just looking for something new. I loved a lot of the stuff that's on the Stoner Metal Thread. Space vacation was the last band I found out about and was into, so I guess i just want more stuff like that, hence I was wondering if the SF metal scene had more to offer.
Is there any band in particular you'd recommend off of this list Aquarius Records, HATE!?

A friend who got me into slap (Shout out to Shrimp and White Wine...) also showed me Burzum . I remember Vice did this ridiculous article on this guy. I think he stabbed and killed an older drummer over wearing a white sweater (not core enough):
Jesus' Tod - Burzum (Filosofem)

Ok, you're digging the jammier stoned shit.
Check out Electric Wizard, High on Fire (from the bay area), Uncle Acid, Pall Bearer, Ghost, Purson, The Devil's Blood and Pilgrim. Kinda varied....
For shit that sounds like Burzum, which is a weird form of Black Metal.... Fuck.... There's a lot of shit out there. I am in a rush right now, but the first thing I thought you might like would be Xasthur's album "Subliminal Genocide"

Euronymous was the guitarist, and was not killed over a sweater. Varg Vikernes says he was killed over disagreements over contracts (he released the Burzum albums) plus Euronymous supposedly threatened to kill him first.

If you've not heard the story, it's a pretty unique one. All of the early 90s black metal stories are good.

Yeah, they're awesome.
Not all Bay Area metal bands, but just migrate over to the heavy metal thread and just check out everything in there. There's a wide variation of stuff AND you get to learn how to weed out the shitty metalcore stuff too because a the most frequent posters in that thread were calling people out on it for a little while in there.
In fact, I'm about to post something in there now.

Leave me alone is probably my favorite tune from them but not sure what's next for them, since they just kicked out their 2nd guitarist for improvising too much and now their drummer just quit to go be drummer fulltime for her other band(Who I actually prefer).
