Good shoes for bad feet (plantar fasciitis)
«
on:

I have plantar fasciitis right now. It's severe inflammation of the tissue on the soles of your feet and your heel. It hurts really, really bad almost all of the time, and generally lasts for several months, possibly a couple years. Its really the worst pain I've ever felt.
I am not going to stop skating until it goes away. I still skate daily for transportation and session regularly so I'm thinking there might be a good shoe out there that's super cushiony and supportive. Oh, and preferably mid top and strong preference for vulc soles...
Any suggestions?

I had this a few years ago and it was fucking horrible, especially first thing in the morning when I had to almost crawl out of bed.
Do make sure it's being looked at and you've got the right excercises to help speed up the recovery. I'd skip vulc completely if I was you, and go for something like a Dunk Mid or simular
I feel for ya buddy, once I had it diagnosed properly and the company health care got me looked at by a specialist it cleared up in no time. I wasn't skating much at the time but I found skating in the evenings to be much easier on my feet as the plantar fascia has loosened up a lot by then.
Get stretching asap

Having this right now as well. Thing that helps me most is an insole with plenty of arch support. Also get to stretching and foot strengthening excercises. Look at running blogs, they've got plenty of excercises you can do.

Like someone above said, dont go with vulcs if your feet are hurting, and dunks for sure. I used to hate cupsole until I skated the dunk, theyve got plenty boardfeel along with protection so thats all good. Dunkkkkk iiittt

....I'm no expert, but that doesn't sound smart at all.
Like other people said - although I've never had any - dunks.
You should also look into custom orthotics for your feet, or experiment with different insoles.
I would definitely shy away from vulc shoes

blazers and footprint insoles are really the way to go. go a half size bigger and use the footprint soles and poron soles, your feet will love you for it.

The Viking I believe. But I think he said they make them special for him so they might not be available anymore.

Yes, arch supports. I had ps really bad too after wearing half cabs. I put arch supports under my insoles and that made a big difference. I also found that putting about 1/2" wide strips of duct tape on the bottom side of a removable insole (about 1/4" thick, or so), at the same length of your arch will also help give a little support. It's good for shoes that can't really accomodate arch supports. Also, the Footprint Kingfoam with an arch support under it will do wonders in any vulc shoe. Good luck, ps sucks for sure.

im speaking from personal experience dunks with an extra insole are fucking perfect for foot protection. you prolly dont wanna hear this but your going to have to sacrifice boardfeel if you want your feet not to hurt. at the very least rock a solid cupsole shoe with an excellent insole.

The lack of originality in skateshoes nowadays depress me. The second a company have a good selling model everyone replicates it.

Busenitz have great arch support, especially with footprint insoles but are really really thin at the forefoot and I don't know if that would be bad for your condition.
I haven't had them but like what was said before, the Silas looks good. Adidas makes really supportive skate shoes
