Fuuuuck please don't let's resurrect the early 90's. That was my peak, if you can call it that (frankly I'm much happier with my skating today even though it's light years behind "acceptable" now) and I'm retrospectively slightly embaressed about that patch. The 90's was all about shopping at high n'mighty - even having arguments about the staff there because I insisted I did indeed want the biggest pair of jeans there even though I was a skinny kid. Forfucks sake I bought a white '60" pair of white acrylic suit trousers and cut them off whilst wearing them with scissors - because they went with white trainers I'd bought - and people I skated with thought that was dope. I'm not being funny but the early 90's skate fashion was all about looking cool for a split second in mid air because the clothes accentuated movements.. The rest of the time we looked like clowns but were proud of that because it didn't fit in with the mainstream. And even that was better than the fuckin' atrocious fluorescent shit which had been mainstream skate fashion before then.
I'm drunk, so forgive the shit coming from my fingers, all I'm trying to say is please don't resurrect utter shit just because it's now suddenly different. Stereo was right - no-one really realised that at the time but they were. Please don't follow early 90's shit because it's suddenly new and cool. It really isn't; I was there living it. Fucking James dean is still cool decades after his death. James dean on a skateboard would still be cool. James dean in 90's shit would be a laughing stock. For that matter James dean following any fasion shit would be a laughing stock. If bob smith, a made up clueless fuck from everywhere, looks at your shit and shakes his head then I" m afraid your shit is stupid... He doesn't know better, he's Everyman, and his nod is the litmus test.
I think I can sum up by saying ignore fashion and trends. If you look good, you look good, and fuck what you are told to look like because sometimes that will lead to you looking like a chump. And jimmy z? Or other 90's shit? Fuck right off.. Wear a white t and jeans that fit right and the ghost of j dean will smile on you my friend
