From back in the day, wanna say around '02 or '03? He was one of the few local skaters doing gnarly flip tricks, and the switch hardflip down mccormick place still is amazing to me.

you cant beat uprise, but as far as my experience goes fa is a real ass shop. everyone there is super friendly, they do cool events, and they dont sell soccer gear

They don't anymore? When I grew up that was my local shop for a while. They definitely had soccer and tennis gear, and for a while it was just a small counter in the back of the shop. As time went on the shop side grew, I knew they moved to a new location, but thought they still had the soccer stuff.
I'm pretty sure the fact that the shop existed in the first place was because the guy who owned the soccer shop had a kid who skated and let him sell skate gear in the back. Back before shit blew up like it did if you lived near a place like Arlington Heights, Illinois there really wasn't any way a pure skating skateboard shop could exist based on the fact that maybe 2-3 kids at every high school in the area skated. I was always grateful that FA existed so if I broke a board I didn't have to go all the way to the SCRAP pro shop or wait two weeks to get another board. I'm hyped that it still exists. It was never as big as uprise or even RQ, but its definitely as legit as a skateshop can be. They've been there through thick and thin.

back 180 down the UIC hubba stairs(the one whose hubba was back tailed on the hard side by Pete Ramondetta in the new Real video) was fucking outrageous.

FA was pretty much the shop I went to from when I started skating til I moved away from the chiburbs (so like 2000-2008). I love that place, the Fa stickers that parody'd forum snowboards and Bass Pro Shop are still on a bunch of my shit and I still have my FA cubs shirt. My mom used to go there to christmas shop for me by herself and she always said they were nice and helped her out and I always ended up with cool shit (except one year I got a gay yellow etnies hoody). You sir, are an asshole.
