That's a pretty good assessment. My other issue with brostep is the lack of originality in the percussion. Dubstep usually used sparse percussion with a focus on the third beat (hence the 'step' title) whereas brostep usually just abuses compressed snares on the two and four. Lame.

Mala, Loefah, Coki, Ramadanman Peveralist, Appleblim and 2562 are all still making good music. Really though, dubstep only ever made proper sense when listening through a heavy sound system. If there's no sub pressure, it's not dubstep.

Brostep is the hair metal of electronic music, I'm more into the "UK Garage" side of things which is sometimes referred to as dubstep (not so much in recent years due to it's negative connotation)
One time I brought up the name Burial to this kid who said he was into dubstep and he kinda just looked down at his shoes.
