desperate times call for desperate measures....i heard the other day Habitats been selling more cruiser boards than decks over the past few months. Also dont know if this was mentioned yet but youll never see a Tim O'connor pro model again...

Skate whatever makes you happy. That Anti Hero or Krooked would be nice as a cruiser board. Maybe because I am old I don't fucking care as long as someone has fun, who the fuck am I to say they are wrong??

so does krooked.
yeah this is trick longboard, if you watch old Real videos Gonz is always skating handrails and shit on longboards. yeah you can't group this in with the kook longboards and stuff.
Also even though it doesnt make much sense theres a whole weird group of kids that do modern skateboarding on 35-36inch longboards, seen some dudes some big rails and gaps on them.
like this dude

the reason i posted the krooked "long board" is cause people were getting on habitat like there the ONLY company that makes shit which appeals to non skaters.

exactly, mark gonzales exemplifies that beautifully. i think the weird thing here is that the Habitat longboard thing is not a skateboard in any sense. you would be hard pressed to actually skate it; it isn't designed for skateboarding. Habitat damn well knows that the people who admire Stefan Janowski aren't the same people who will be buying that product.

dyrdek has already said that he plans on leaving alien worshop more or less alone, and "expanding habitat's product line" instead. personally, i would be way more bummed to see aws longboards than habitat ones.

Didn't Habitat already make longboards? It's 2012. I bet they had long boards over 5 years ago....the skateboard community is losing its common sense...so weird when we are mostly street skaters, like on the street in the real world with people and reality, it's not a football field. But wait, football players tackle eachother, and we're tackling ledges! What's your stats? Fuck other sports like longboarding BRO, CHESTBUMP.

longboards and cruiser boards sell like crazy, companies and just trying to stay afloat. if that means means not being as core as the were im pretty sure its acceptable.

Longboarding is the new inline skating. Dead in 5 years.
They are too big for transportation. A bike can be locked up, a skateboard can be carried, and a longboard will knock someone or something out when walking into a business.

yeah completely. I think one of the biggest factors that distinguishes cruisers over longboards is the tighter wheelbase to allow ollies/etc. 32 inch long longboards exist which are different from cruisers because of the lack of a nose and tail. to me that antihero just looks like a really long cruiser

while I'm not a fan of long board culture those inverted king pins do come in handy at high speeds for stability. I can honestly say i wish my zip zinger had em especially after the speed wobbles and hellish fall I took the other day going 25

So. Anybody have any predictions for when the cruiser/longboard market becomes oversaturated?
to an extent it's better core companies are out there getting the money which goes towards their company to do things like videos and tours for our entertainment and securing jobs for skaters. It's not like Sector 9 has any potential for putting out a watchable skate video.

As far as cruisers go, it could just die down a bit but I think skate companies will still put out cruisers once in a while.
But longboarding I have no idea. There's a separate market (and culture) for that. It caters to more casual riders so I can see longboarding companies losing customers after a while (plus, how often do you really need to get new stuff for a longboard?).

While I had my two little ones out this weekend, we stumbled on a pack of longboarders 'sessioning' the saddest little hill spot I've ever seen. My 3 year old has seen enough skate videos to ask why they were going so slow on those ugly big boards and where are their skateboards as we went past. I was laughing for a good long while.

Definitely. Once they dropped Selego and Molinar to add Daryl Angel and the YouTube sensation it was pretty much over. Plus their art direction, which was the cornerstone for the brand, has all but been forsaken. Habitat's the next Element.

can believe what I'm hearing but... it does seem to be moving in that direction. Selego was a major loss... although I thought that Cross Continental part was one of the sickest things Habitat has released since Inhabitants.
Has Habitat's art director changed? I remember having this Danny Garcia board with one of my favorite graphics ever.

i would hate to run a skateboard company judging by some of the shit you guys say. this is what businesses do when the economy and skateboarding is in the shitter. good businesses evolve and adapt. if they want to make a longer board in their style and sell a lot of them, what's the big fuckin deal?
