I'm stoked for Cyril this dude defiantly deserves it. Glad hes off 1031
Fuck your shit. 1031 is dope.

Seriously, hating on 1031 is hating on core skateboarding. Are they not cool because you don't see their decks at zumiez when you're in there buying the latest NikeSB's. They're an independent skater-owned company that outside out super solid USA made decks with sick graphics and a good price. Yeah, fuck those guys...

Regardless, I never thought Cyril fit on 1031. It makes sense for him to move on to a bigger company for his career. He's still on Landshark though so must've left on good terms. Svitak is a good dude, probably bummed to see Cyril go but likely wished him well and was stoked for him. ?

Everything yes except this.

Also Moose randomly was up here on a road trip last week and we skated together. I asked how the Deathwish video was going and he said good but only full parts from Jon Dickson, Grecko, and himself. Sorry Twan lovers.

Hard to believe Ellington won't have a full part. Dude has had a lot of ads that footage hasn't been released from, had an interview from 4-5 years ago with multiple sequences including the switch frontside flip down the Santa Monica High 14 and also a bigspin flip down the 9 stair that Reynolds switch 360'd in TIS, with no footage from any of it released, had a Transworld pro spotlight with a bunch of photos and sequences with no footage of any of it released, and has been filming since Baker 3 which came out in 2005, having only really put out that Baker Has A Deathwish promo thing as some sort of video part, and most of that was very obviously throwaway footage from that dude.

It's been 7 years since Baker 3. If somehow he doesn't get a full part, I will be extremely surprised.

edit: back to the original topic, pumpkin themed companies are weird. Glad that dude got hooked up with Baker.

Two things.  One that nose grind was really fucking long.  And two, don't ever talk about spanky like that.  He is a fucking legend.

So just because 1031 is a "core" company people gotta like it? Fuck that.

Really? You bothered to put one sentence in bold but seems like you ignored everything after that.  Read the rest and you'll see that there are a couple of other supporting points there besides only being a "core" brand. If you have the attention span to handle it I'll elaborate further. To your statement though, being skater owned and run is a good start. Also, I never said anyone has to like them, I just don't understand hating them and talking shit. I get being impartial and not digging their vibe if it's not your thing, but I've never seen anyone give a valid reason behind their apparent negative view of 1031. Someone please enlighten me because I see this every time 1031 comes up on this forum.

My experiences with the Regulator guys goes back to knowing Mike and the Beer City crew through the Chicago-Wisconsin punk scene in the mid 90's. They were always cool and for a couple decades now they've been contributing to Midwest skateboarding and flat out, from Beer City to 1031 to Landshark, they consistently put out good products at a fair price. Speaking specifically about 1031- every video or web clip they produce gets me hyped to skate. The team is sick as fuck. Again, good team, solid decks, all done by skaters for skaters. Where's the bad in that?
Someone else vaguely brought up having issues with Svitak personally but w/o any reasoning to back it up that's just some random guys' opinion, doesn't mean shit. My personal experiences with Kristian are from back in the Black Label days but still, they were positive. Dude is a little weird and kinda nuts, but he was always nice enough and fun as hell to skate with. He fucking rips too. In his prime he was doing some of the gnarliest shit and he's still out ripping with his team all the time.

I'm not some "more core than thou" douche, which is what your incorrect paraphrase insinuates, but I do support skater-owned skate companies if I like what they're about and don't have reasons to overtly dislike them. What's wrong with that?

I'm actually gonna be really bummed if there are only 3 full parts in the deathwish video. They've been pushing it back for so long it wouldn't even make any sense for most of the team not to have full parts.

I once saw Mike Beer shoulder check a rollerblader in his early teens at 4seasons. I back Mike Beer.

Read the whole thing the first time, I put two sentences in bold and I bolded what I bolded because that was the part that I disagreed with. The way Svitak runs his company is really cool but I don't see anything wrong with not liking them and I thought you were saying there was when you used the term "hating on". I wouldn't mind riding a 1031 board but I've never even seen one in person for me to buy. Never seen anyone ride one either.

Maybe they are the only ones who already have enough footage for full parts...? Also, who can say how much Deathwish footage will go into the Baker video and vice versa. We could be in store for multiple shared parts from riders on both teams in both videos.

Black kid style is exactly what it sounds like. Most black kids who skate now have all the same influences, so their styles are all similar.
really?  didn't know that at all.  you should expound on this very 'accurate' theory of yours.  We'd all like to hear more.  dd

Never liked Spanky. Just looking at his face makes me angry.

He was awesome in 'This is Skateboarding' and I thought he had a bright future, but it was all downhill from there. Not only did he have a bigger bag of tricks back then but even his style was better, usually a style will mature overtime, his got even worse. Idk what happened, injuries? Drugs?

Injuries, he's had a lot of surgery on his knee. I bet he's happy to be just skating right now.

I hear that.

I still don't get it, is there more to 'black kid style' than being really good at nollie/switch heels?

I had a beer city back in the day and liked it. Boards are boards. 1031 is going bleed good riders if they aren't making gear that riders are stoked on. That or pay them well.

1031 is A-OK with me. I'd buy one of their boards if i saw one. Yeah the graphics aren't amazing but it's better than some shitty real logo. Lots of awesome companies have fucking cruddy graphics.

Preface: I like Lenoce

Anyone else feel like the song was taunting you for expecting tricks that you hadn't seen from Lenoce a hundred times before? WHAT DID YOU EXPECT!
