I had a room mate for about a year that was heavy into conspiracy theories and the Illuminati and everything.

Everytime I collected rent I got the same "OH. So you want some paper with writing on it, that represents a physical quantity of gold?", or some nonsense. Got really irritating.

during the election i would venture over to /pol/  ( i check checkout /out/ and /v/ a lot) once in a while to see what was goin on over there. One time there was a dude claiming to be a well-known skateboarder.  I jumped on it trying to figure out who it was-- tired to get them to post on slap they declined but they did say something that pretty much definitively proved they were once a a pal.  a lot of what hes saying on here pretty much mirrors the /pol/tard narrative.

i would be very curious to know if i was talking to peulo that day.

I had a friend who was super into The Workshop (shout out to Dill) during the mid-late 90's.  He got all into conspiracy theories, read the Pale Horse book and would not shut up about them.  He wasn't the smartest guy.  I chalked it up to most things people get super into, like religions/cults.  They may have some cool/positive things and ideas to offer, but the people who go all in are not the smartest, usually just looking for something to guide them and believe in.

With the conspiracy thing you also have the religion/cult similarity of elitism, e.g., "I'm an insider and know all this cool stuff normal people/sheep can't grasp."  I think this appeals to people who maybe didn't do well in school or have felt intellectually inferior during their life.

i read the pale horse behind a cairo foster interview and a lot of stuff in there was outlandish but an equal amount has come to pass. people who don't discern discredits so-called conspiracies but they're not all fake.
i've been thinking more of the love/fear dichotomy and how animals in the wild attack if you're afraid. my bees will zap you for being pussy, god hates a coward and scared people hoard nuclear bombs. kinda like the premise of spike lee's chiraq, girls need to w/hold pussy from scared-violent people to breed em out and the peaceful people can swim w/ whales and feed bears and shit.

In my town there's quite a few conspiracy theory weirdos. I went to a party a year or two ago which ended being a gigantic HS reunion and they were all there. So I'm sitting there listening to them talk and the shit that came out of their mouth was absolutely outrageous. "I believe that aliens run the earth behind the scenes" "no man it's lizard people" "bill Clinton and barrack Obama are part of a society that is led by Adolfo hitler and JFK" "the government deploys weed dealers with special weed that make men sterile to control the population" basically all these kids are paranoid stoners who lost their marbles. It's funny to hear them believe this shit but kind of pathetic at the same time. All they do is post insane things on facebook and instagram pics of the newest illuminati book they just bought.

Yeah, fuck Puleo for talking about/believing in Pizzagate.  Someone walked in there with a gun to "investigate" this and while luckily no one got killed, it could have happened because of people saying shit like this.  Especially since there IS no evidence for what he believes happened and ignores any evidence against it, such as the fact that there are no basements in some of the restaurants mentioned (and then it's pretty clear he's going off the deep end as he starts talking about energy vampires and sacrificing humans and stuff that's that absurd).

Whoa wouldn't say fuck puleo at all but cmon bobby pizzagate is such bullshit. Comet ping pong or comet pizza(whatever the pizza shop in DC is called) serves as a fucking DIY venue for punk/indie bands to book shows and play at.  It is not a pedophile ring. Yes the wikileaks John Podesta emails contain some sort of a "coded" language but that coded language that includes "pizza" could truly fucking mean anything. You could throw in words in place of pizza and make some sort of sense of it. every human is a victim of confirmation bias

Bobby comes down of his high horse and joins Insta, but adds conspiracy theories (via his youtube history) to remain edgy.

in a bizzaro world, pontus would be a washed-up paranoid hobo living behind the train tracks with faces painted on his shoes obsessed with secrecy, and bobby puleo would be a successful skate entrepreneur/visionary with iconic graphics of found objects carefully arranged in meaningful grids and a deep friendship/business-partnership with josh stewart, contributing to the Theories of Atlantis brand concept with his own strong bank of conspiracy theory knowledge.
I think there's a moral here.

Came back to this thread just to read this post again. It's pretty interesting to think how the industry really started to change around 06-07. Some people like pops, wenning, and puleo slowly fell off while people like Pontus, Soy Panday and Josh Stewart adapted to/shaped the shift that the internet caused/enabled.

I was stoned last night just waxing poetic on this for a while to my girlfriend who feigned interest for an oddly long amount of time. Pretty wild how all of that played out.

Strangely, I have more respect for him after listening to him. I get that Tim was letting him go off on conspiracy theories for effect, but it would have been more interesting to me if they talked more skating. The Pappalardo stuff was great. It doesn't seem like Bobby has a filter and Tim could have gotten more stuff like that if he didn't keep going on conspiracies.

I haven't heard it all yet, but does he talks about Magenta? I'd be really interested to know his stance on this brand. I'm pretty sure he is not into them at all.

No he doesn't speak on Magenta whatsoever. Tim mentions them while describing Theories, but Bobby doesn't divulge any opinions. He agreed that it was sick how popular Polar is, but did not express that himself, simply said he agreed.

I think Marc Johnson is into some of this crazy shit too. He had an interview years ago where he was going on about The Urantia Book.

The "story" behind this thing is that in the early 1900s some guy would often go into a deep sleep to the extent that his wife wouldn't be able to wake him. Celestial beings called revelators  would speak through him and he would start talking about the universe and Jebus and they started recording his unconscious ramblings, which ended up being 2,000 pages long.

There is even a foundation that promotes the teachings. Crazy shit.

I wonder if Marc and Bobby are friends.
