I bet its a real fun adrenaline rush being shot at in a foreign country. Totally worth it though cause you can buy a 2017 corolla when you get back home.

Get some!

To his credit Jim Thiebaud mentioned it on his Twitter account and said he thought it was wack.

kind of flattering how much of a push they made and what jobs they were promoting.
it makes sense though; active people, high focus, mind of matter, able to take information and adjust, willing to repeat a task over and over until its perfect and on lock.   on a side note: who the fuck is Heimana Reynolds and why did the judges hate him? i thought he was a cool throw back to hosoi.

He skates at the vans pool party every year. I'm not a big fan of him but the judges definitely shit all over him man. They low balled the fuck outta him.

More on topic now. I didn't think what Nyjah said was bad. I could see him actually wanting to do that especially with how fucked his dad was. Would have been a good fuck you to him. But overall I thought how hard they were pushing joining the Navy was lame as hell and comparing landing shit to a plane landing on a aircraft carrier. Was whack as hell. Some serious indoctrination going on.

Nyjah wouldn't be able to pass a drug or FBI background check to even get into the National Guard. Plus, his tattoos would automatically disqualify him from serving.

Would he still be a millionaire if he "didn't skate", and is saying he would join the army for fun...?

are there no skateboarders in politics? i can think of a bunch who would do great

Brink should definitely be Trump's press secretary:

Brink: "Yes, Ms. Rubin from the Post?"

Rubin: "Robert, what can you tell us about Donald Jr's meeting with the Russians?  This looks like a clear attempt at collusion."

Brink: "Jennifer, you just don't know the whole story."

Rubin: "Can you tell us the whole story?"

Brink: "It's not my story to tell.  Please refer all questions to Mr. Trump's attorney."

Wow now that's fucked, I wonder how much they got paid to do that.
Or maybe it was part of their contractual obligations by entering the X games contest

Were any of the guys subjected to this? Or was it just for the ladies? Sorry, I don't watch the x-games ... not enough time. Under normal circumstances everything I post is satire in some shape or form, however not the case in this circumstance. If a pal could help me out here and explain what the fuck that was ... also, why single out Alexis and Lizzie?

Back when the X-Games Skatepark was happening in Philly the Army opened up a recruiting center directly across the hall. It had some kind of laser tag shit that you could shoot from a mock up helicopter. No word on if it had accurate target lead simulation for women and children.

Quick advertising for them, add in a monster can and a guitar & some guy screaming 'yeah!' and it almost seems bearable  Probably the most unsettling is how opposite of a social issue it is, not telling people something as much needing doing like upcycling their goods so they're not constantly throwing ish out that can be used again and help less fortunate. .not 'land this jet in 15 seconds!'
Its the furthest from possibility how much these soulless jobs will do for a .mm of the buzz, without the facilitation into how it works but typical use

The military assumes most skaters are unintelligent kids not going to college and lacking quality opportunities in adulthood, so you know, market to the "no better options" demographic. It's disheartening to see to what extent pros will go for a few hundred dollars.

Seeing as most of the people in this thread don't understand that the Army and Navy are 2 separate organizations, I'd say they assumed right.

I don't understand where you came up with this? Sure it was sponsored by the Navy and Nyjah boy was talking about the Army. But I don't think I seent anyone say anything that would indicate they thought the Army and Navy were the same thing.

Pretty shitty videos. Nyjah would be a great fit on Team America. Theres a market the navy was after, and its (to me) anyone that watches the Xgames but doesn't do any "extreme" sport, like the Dashawn mob flipping guy in the Alexis video. No problems with the military, but the X games forever blow. Especially majority of the Nike skate team looking like the golf team, fucking dorks

Yeah, I watched clips of the X-Games on youtube and I thought it was really embarassing for skateboarding how they advertised the US Navy during the big air event: "This landing was brought to you by the US-Navy. We land fighter jet-planes on tiny ships at night!" (They show a clip of a fighter landing, which looks like it was shot with a go pro-camera).

Those little slogans they kept repeating were so bad. "What goes from 150 to 0 in less than two seconds?!? A Navy fighter pilot landing on an aircraft carrier! Let's see if Elliot Sloan can land like that!"  ---> which makes no fucking sense whatsoever. So, slam into a brick wall immediately after landing a 20 foot air? I don't think Chris Miller said any of that shit once and I like to think he flat out refused to but who knows.

Definitely my favourite quote of the big air comp: "Oh my goodness!!! ELLIOT SLOAN ABSOLUTELY FEELING HIMSELF OUT HERE TODAY!!"

BG told me that Ca$h Money is both an Army and a Navy.  I'm sticking with that.

At the end of the day its still up to an individual to sign the dotted line on a military enlistment contract. And not to mention the recruiting system is designed to filter people out who in reality, do not want to serve. I get it, marketing for the military is lame within the mainstream skateboarding world but at least the product, being the US military, is worthwhile in my opinion.

It's not though. People are just speaking about the military in general. All of the branches do this kind of advertising. Except maybe no the Marines I don't think I've ever really seen them do it.

Sure the point is that Nyjah doesn't understand the difference? Plus I guess as long as adrenaline's involved both are fine by him.

Seeing that skating is the most peaceful, cooperative, connecting kind of activity/culture/lifestyle I know, using it for military recruitment purposes seems pretty twisted.
